I think you´re right Do.

Hence also the computer-designed head/face.
They had to make Mr. Hologram actually lip-sync the lyrics to the song, which real Michael had never performed before on stage.

MaryK, LOL at 'age-appropriate choreography'!  Nothing wrong with that IMO, in fact should be applauded. (I'd feel uncomfortable with a 50+ year old doing 'Come Together' for example!  :icon_redface:)

Can't help but remember that 'a performing on stage' MJ, was something hoaxers generally thought we'd seen the last of.  Maybe we still have, (if this is some kind of technological illusion created to replace the 'real deal'), or maybe not ... who knows?!!

Think I just lost my jaded feeling!

:icon_e_biggrin: Oh no no, of course not. Nothing wrong with that!

The one that Thriller posted is a photoshopped image.

This is what it really looked like:

However, yes, I too think an impersonator was used for this. CGI-like technology and etc.

For those interested, here´s an opinion/info on that:

Well @bec, isn´t that in line with your thoughts about the "age-appropriate" choreography?  :icon_e_wink:

Wouldn´t this be what we call "semi-retirement" nowadays?  :LolLolLolLol:

Sorry MJ  :icon_e_biggrin:

Michael Jackson hologram to tour the world?
by Bang Showbiz | 20 May 2014

A hologram of Michael Jackson could be set to tour the world after a successful performance at the Billboard Music Awards. The two-year tour could make half a billion dollars.

Michael Jackson is set to tour the world again - as a hologram.

The late King of Pop, who was resurrected onstage at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night (18.05.14) thanks to advanced technology, could wow fans across the globe again five years after his death.

The producers behind the special effects extravaganza want to take their show on the road for a two-year tour and are predicted to make half a billion dollars.

A source told the Daily Star newspaper: ''It's only a matter of time before a hologram like this goes on tour. Public appetite for Michael Jackson's music has never been greater and this is a unique way of experiencing his magic.''

The hologram performance at the Billboard Music Awards follows the success of a new posthumous Michael Jackson album, 'Xscape', which recently topped the charts in the UK.

John Branca, the executor of the singer's estate, added: ''It's so important to experience Michael Jackson in a live setting. We wanted a live performance in front of a live audience.''

It took four months to put together the lavish special effects show, which saw Michael's hologram gyrate and moonwalk on stage to new song 'Slave to the Rhythm'.

The late singer's choreographers, Rich and Tone Talauega, were behind the dance moves.

I thought it was great.

I would think if that was CGI/impersonator the dancing would have been more complicated. I mean, if you can have whatever some choreographer can imagine, why not go all out. That was very a simple performance, more in line with what I'd imagine an actual 50+ year old artist would perform if allowed to decide for himself, rather then simply being a manifestation of a producer's desires (slave).

Even though I still don´t like it and I still get mixed emotions from this, I have to admit that this is coherent reasoning.
I like it  :icon_e_biggrin:

Do, I understand what you are saying.
However this might just be the problem. At least for me.
Somehow I feel a huge gap between "hoaxy" and what I saw there and how it made me feel.
Reality check maybe? Sort of. For me personally. It just doesn´t feel right. Not in my mind, not in my heart.

I know, I know....Michael is back in the news and etc.
That´s a good thing.
And yes, sure, Michael loves controversy, that´s what we have been saying for all these years now.
But still.... that "hologram" thing left me feeling empty somehow. If that makes sense to anyone.

So Michael, if that´s you behind this...sorry, really didn´t enjoy it  :(

I understand though that it´s a "promotion tool".

And maybe that´s just what it´s meant to be. Hoaxy or not hoaxy.

Mary, and I understand what you are saying!
What you feel about this performance is what I felt about all that happened in the past, especially the bad news, the controversy, the suicide attempt, the trials, the books and performances by the family (to name a few). That was my reality check. That's when I started to have doubts and that's when I started to feel that there might be  more sinister things were going on. That's when the hope that Michael would come back as his 'old' self started to fade away. I understand your empty feeling. It's like it hits you: we want the real deal, but this is all what we might get....

Yes.....

I think we'll only be satisfied when 'the real thing' comes back to the stage. But I also think this will never going to happen. What I do find strange is that with all the 'bad' things that happened the past few years, everyone was laughing about it and felt that it was 'hoaxy', and now Mike is back in the news in a good way, we all are complaining that it isn't good enough. I don't think I understand this reasoning.

No, no and NO.  :(

Sorry, no matter how often I watch it....I don´t like it, I don´t appreciate it.

It´s not even a hologram. It´s more like CGI technology. That´s all.

So apparently it can be used. Not a problem.

Ok I put in my two cents  :icon_e_wink:

The funnel around his head and neck, I think it represents a wormhole.

Wiki:

Quote
A wormhole, also known as an Einstein–Rosen bridge, is a hypothetical topological feature of spacetime that would fundamentally be a "shortcut" through spacetime. A wormhole is much like a tunnel with two ends each in separate points in spacetime.

Mike transcending time and space.

Past, present, future.

Friends, Romans, countrymen....  :icon_lol:

No, seriously, I am a bit surprised.

Paris suicide attempt story comes out -----> hoax theories all over the place

Wade Robson story comes out -----> hoax theories all over the place

Ugly ugly stuff but still hoax theories.

Now this...and no hoax theories? Nothing? Did we wean ourselves off hoaxing in the meantime?

So....they took DNA samples from a 30 year old dental impression of Michael. The dental impression was family-owned and handed over to an auction house by a Jackson family member who does not want to be named. The dental impression was authenticated by the auction house and the dentist who was in the show acquired it as a memorabilia.
They had DNA tests done by 2 laboratories in Utah and Ireland.

Result:  99,9 % probability of paternity

Can this be really true????
