Paris' Guardian Over Our Dead Bodies![]() Michael Jackson's family has circled the wagons ... with many family members expressing outrage at the prospect Debbie Rowe could become Paris Jackson's legal guardian ... sources connected with the family tell TMZ. We broke the story ... Debbie has not made any move to become Paris' guardian after last week's suicide attempt, but she's amenable if Paris wants it. As we reported ... Paris is having trouble connecting with grandma Katherine, and that's one of the reasons she's established a bond with Debbie over the last few months. Our sources say ... members of the family believe Debbie's motivation is to put herself in the public eye, as evidenced by her statement to the media after the suicide attempt. As one source said, "If her intentions were pure she'd be speaking to the family." We're told the family will fight Debbie "tooth and nail" if she attempts to secure guardianship. The criticism is puzzling, because Debbie has stayed out of the spotlight for years, and her statement about Paris had nothing to do with guardianship -- it was merely confirming TMZ's story that Paris had attempted suicide. Also interesting ... the family is not suggesting Debbie's motivation is money. Darrell Strickland -- the promoter who organized "Tito Jackson's 'THIS IS IT!' Talent Search" -- tells TMZ he paid Tito $3,500 to judge the competition. The event was set for last weekend but Tito was a no-show ... no explanation, no nothing. Strickland tells us, “Over 200 kids were there expecting to see Tito and were all upset about him not being there. We really promoted this event ... And now that he didn’t show up, I want my money back.” We tried contacting Tito's people multiple times, but we've heard nothing back. The promoter says he plans to sue if Tito doesn't ante up. Murray -- who is serving a 4-year sentence for killing MJ -- called into "Anderson Cooper 360" moments ago from jail. At first he sang the same old tune ... insisting he was innocent and in the process of appealing the case. But then he did something really, really weird -- belting out his version of "The Little Boy That Santa Clause Forgot" (better sung by Nat King Cole)! Murray seemed to be explaining how much he and MJ had in common ... and why he's chosen to plead the 5th in Katherine Jackson's $40 billion suit against AEG -- but you gotta watch it, because his singing is super awkward ... and awful. 3/17/2013 1:00 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF ![]() Sounds a little weird, but Conrad Murray -- who has already been convicted and serving time for killing Michael Jackson -- will exercise his 5th Amendment right against self-incrimination in Katherine Jackson's lawsuit against AEG. Michael's mom is suing AEG, claiming the company negligently hired and supervised Murray, which resulted in her son's death. Katherine has subpoenaed Murray to explain his arrangement with AEG. Sources connected with the case tell TMZ ... Murray's lawyer, Valerie Wass, will file legal docs ... arguing she is appealing Murray's conviction, and if it's overturned it's likely he'd be re-tried. If that happens, what he says could still be used against him, so Wass wants Murray to keep his trap shut. It's pretty crazy, since Murray has already served almost a year-and-a-half. OVER $40 BIL!!!![]() Michael Jackson's 3 children and his mom Katherine want in excess of $40 BILLION from AEG Live for the death of the singer ... TMZ has learned. We've obtained legal docs which now lay out what Prince, Paris, Blanket and Katherine want from the entertainment company for its alleged negligent hiring and supervision of Dr. Conrad Murray. The kids want $10 billion for all of the future earnings they claim MJ would have scored had he lived. They want an additional $50 million for various other damages. AEG Live claims the $40 billion is preposterous because Michael's career was in a downward spiral following the child molestation allegations, as well as self-imposed exile in the Middle East. To Pay Off 'Thriller' Chick1/4/2013 12:40 AM PST BY TMZ STAFF ![]() $55,000 ... that's how much it took for the chick from Michael Jackson's "Thriller" music video to call a truce in her war with the MJ estate ... TMZ has learned. TMZ broke the story ... Ola Ray settled her lawsuit with the estate earlier this year, and now we know what for ... $55,000 to Ola ... and $20,000 to her lawyer. Ola originally filed the suit against MJ and his production company in May 2009 -- a month before Jackson passed away -- claiming breach of contract. Ola said she was still owed a massive chunk of the "Thriller" profits ... nearly 30 years after it was released. The director of the music video John Landis -- who filed a similar lawsuit against the estate -- has also settled ... but he wanted in excess of $2 million, so we're guessing he got a little more than Ola. The latest photo was taken in 2005 -- four years before the King of Pop's untimely death -- and you can tell from the harrowing image ... MJ had become a tortured soul. ![]() An image of MJ's 1980s driver's license was released by the FBI shortly after Michael died -- as part of the agency's massive file on the singer. The Bureau compiled the dossier during its investigation into child sex allegations involving the singer back in the 90s. ![]() As you can see, Michael was a much different person back then -- smiling brightly for his photo at the DMV. Of course, it's not like MJ ever put the license to much use -- he was pretty much exclusively chauffeured around, especially in the later years of his life. .... Almost![]() The house where Michael Jackson died is in escrow and about to close ... TMZ has learned ... and the buyer was so anxious, he's moving in weeks before escrow is scheduled to close. The buyer is Steven Mayer, a super-rich investment banker. Our sources say the purchase price was somewhere between $17 and $20 mil -- it was listed for nearly $24 mil. And this is interesting ... for some reason the seller is letting Mayer move in before escrow closes -- something real estate honchos think is high risk. ![]() Mauricio Umansky at The Agency represented Mayer and the seller of the home. Register or Login8/12/2012 12:55 AM PDT BY TMZ STAFF ![]() Dr. Conrad Murray no longer feels safe behind bars, TMZ has learned -- after jailers mistakenly allowed a complete stranger to visit him in the clink ... a woman posing as the mother of MJ's children ... and now, Murray's afraid of another security breach. Murray's lawyers tell TMZ, the woman -- who appeared to be in her 40s and of Eastern European descent -- visited Murray in jail Thursday, saying she flew in from Nevada just to see him. Murray didn't recognize her and insisted there must be some mistake -- but she replied, "I've seen you before and you've probably seen me before. I'm the mother of Michael Jackson's kids." FYI -- Debbie Rowe is the biological mother of MJ's two older children. The mother of the youngest child (Blanket) is reportedly a Hispanic woman in San Diego. So needless to say, we're told Murray called the visitor an "impostor" ... then told her to scram, which she did. Now, Murray's upset ... because a recent change in the L.A. County jail's visitor policy -- which lets visitors sign up online without verifying their identity -- has left him exposed to crazies from the outside world. Under the new policy, prisoners don't even get notified of their visitor until they're sitting face-to-face with them in a tiny cell -- separated only by glass -- which is what happened to Murray. Murray's attorney Valerie Wass tells TMZ, "I have serious concerns about the security. My client was horror-stricken by the fact that complete stranger could get in to see him." As TMZ first reported, Jackson's declaration following the Arizona spa ordeal -- which came as part of her bid to obtain co-guardianship over Prince, Paris, and Blanket -- seemed to suggest she was tricked into going and had no idea MJ's kids were worried about her. As part of the declaration, Jackson said, "At the time, I trusted the people I was with to be honest with me." But Katherine's attorney, Perry Sanders, tells TMZ she has "absolutely" no plans to press charges over the incident, telling us, "This chapter of chaos is closed and we are supportive of family unity in spite of recent events and arguably poor decisions."
