Others / Chris Kelly, Half of '90s Rap Duo Kris Kross, Dead at 34

Here is some news on an artist that toured with Michael in the past.

Chris Kelly, Half of '90s Rap Duo Kris Kross, Dead at 34
No cause of death is yet known for Kelly, who was known as Mac Daddy during his Kris Kross days in the '90s

Chris Kelly, half of the 1990s kid rap duo Kris Kross who made one of the decade's most memorable songs with the frenetic "Jump," died at an Atlanta hospital on Wednesday of an apparent drug overdose at his home, authorities said. He was 34.

"It appears it may have been a possible drug overdose," said Cpl. Kay Lester, a spokeswoman for the Fulton County police.

This, Lester said, is based on statements received at the scene as well as evidence turned up at Kelly's home in south Atlanta.

"It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1," Kelly's mom Donna Kelly Pratte said in a statement. "To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music.
But to us, he was just Chris - the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him."

According to Lester, police were called to Kelly's home at around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. He was transported to the south campus of the Atlanta Medical Center.

Investigator Betty Honey of the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office said Kelly was pronounced dead at the hospital at around 5 p.m. Wednesday.
No official cause of death has been determined, pending an autopsy.

Kelly, known as "Mac Daddy," and Chris Smith, known as "Daddy Mac," were introduced to the music world in 1992 by music producer and rapper Jermaine Dupri after he discovered the pair in an Atlanta mall. The duo wore their clothes backwards as a gimmick, but they won over fans with their raps.

Their first, and by far most successful song, was "Jump." The hit, off their multiplatinum 1992 debut album "Totally Krossed Out," featured the two trading versus and rapping the refrain, the song's title. The duo had surprising maturity in their rap delivery, though the song was written by Dupri. It would become a No. 1 smash in the United States and globally, and one of the most popular of that year.

heir success led to instant fame: They toured with Michael Jackson, appeared on TV shows, and even had their own video game.

The group was never able to match the tremendous success of their first song, though they had other hits like "Warm It Up," and "Tonite's tha Night."

In 2009, after photos surfaced that showed him with bald spots on his head, there were rumors that he had cancer. But in an interview posted on YouTube by Straight from the A TV, he said he suffered from alopecia, a condition in which people lose their hair.

"My health is good, I just got alopecia, I don't have cancer, not other sort of diseases," he said.

Earlier this year, the group performed together to celebrate the anniversary of Durpri's label, So So Def.

Opening Statements Set In Michael Jackson’s Wrongful Death Lawsuit
April 29, 2013 5:32 AM

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Opening statements will begin Monday in Katherine Jackson’s wrongful death lawsuit against AEG.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Yvette Palazuelos will issue her final pretrial rulings at 10 a.m. before opening statements begin.

Katherine Jackson, 82, claims concert promoter, AEG Live, is responsible for the death of her son, Michael Jackson, in 2009.

The pop singer’s mother claims the entertainment giant hired and retained Dr. Conrad Murray. Murray was sentenced to four years in jail for the 2011 conviction of involuntary manslaughter for giving Michael Jackson a fatal dose of Propofol while he was preparing for his “This Is It” comeback tour.
“Katherine Jackson’s main argument is that if AEG had taken better care of her son, he wouldn’t be dead,” CBS Legal Analyst Steve Meister said. “AEG is going to say that Michael Jackson and [Dr.] Conrad Murray had a close relationship that of drug seeker and drug provider which was more powerful than AEG could ever do anything about.”

The singer’s three children — Michael Jr., Paris-Michael Katherine and Prince Michael — are also named as plaintiffs.

Some of the stars listed on the witness list include Quincy Jones, Diana Ross, Lou Ferrigno and Spike Lee. Both of Jackson’s ex-wives, Lisa Marie Presley and Debbie Rowe, are also listed as potential witnesses.

A jury of six men and six women has been selected to decide the case.
The trial is expected to last as long as three months.

KCAL9 Legal Analyst Previews Jackson Vs. AEG Trial
April 28, 2013 10:41 PM

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)—The Jackson family seeks billions from mega promoter AEG. The entertainment/sports conglomerate isn’t sitting idly by.

KCAL9′s Adrianna Weingold discussed the case — opening arguments begin Monday morning — with CBS2/KCAL9 Legal Analyst Steve Meister for a breakdown of both sides.

Is AEG responsible for the King of Pop’s death? It’s a question a jury will try to answer in the latest civil case stemming from Michael Jackson’s death.
Meister says, “Katherine Jackson’s main argument is that if AEG had taken better care of her son, he wouldn’t be dead. And AEG is going to say that Michael Jackson and [Dr.] Conrad Murray had a close relationship that of drug seeker and drug provider which was more powerful than AEG could ever do anything about.”

Katherine Jackson is seeking what could amount to billions of dollars from AEG . She claims AEG paid the bills for Dr. Murray and therefore should pay for her son’s death.

“Michael Jackson is a grown man and he was under the care of a doctor who he insisted care for him. Now AEG ultimately had knowledge of that relationship and acquiesced in it but it pre-existed Michael Jackson’s relationship with AEG,” maintains Meister.

But attorney Meister says he doesn’t think Katherine Jackson will ultimately walk away with anything. “If every performer under contract with AEG had a personal physician at the time, think about it, everybody, did AEG have a requirement to know what was happening between the doctor and patient in every one of those relationships? No. So why [would they have with] Michael Jackson?

Here is a timeline that the Los Angeles Times did on Michael.  I really couldn't find a place to put it so I placed it here because it ends with the civil lawsuit filed against AEG.  I thought some would like to read through it. The timeline is at the following link:

You know as others have already said, this is not the Michael Jackson trial it is the Conrad Murray trial!! The media is still obsessed with putting Michael on trial, even in death!

With that said, what do you all think about:

Nothing like starting things off with a jolt to get the peanut gallery gunning for justice.
Monday marked day one of Dr. Conrad Murray's trail on an involuntary manslaughter charge for allegedly causing You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login's death two years ago.
While we were expecting a media circus (check!) and Jackson's family to be a steady presence in the courtroom (check!), certain developments from the day in court threw us for a loop, and here they are:
1. Very Candid Camera: Deputy District Attorney David Walgren launched his case by showing a blown-up photo of Michael Jackson's dead body. (Trust us, it was as shocking as it sounds.) If the prosecution wanted to upset Jackson's family—and thereby upset anyone who might be thinking about what Jackson's death did to his family—he probably succeeded.
2. Voice From Beyond: Walgren also played a recording  from Murphy's iPhone of a groggy, allegedly under-the-influence Jackson  talking up his planned This Is It concert series. "We have to be  phenomenal," the singer said slowly, slurring his words at points. "When  people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say,  'I've never seen nothing like this in my life. Go, go! I've never seen  nothing like this. Go, it's amazing! He's the greatest entertainer in  the world! I'm taking that money, a million children, children's  hospital, the biggest in the world, Michael Jackson's children's  hospital...'" Yeah, there could've been some substances involved in  that.
3. Waterworks: Conrad Murray did not hide his emotions as attorney Edward Chernoff tried to impress upon the jury the doctor's history of helping people, not negligently causing their demise. The Texas-based cardiologist silently wept and wiped his eyes several times during his lawyer's opening remarks. At least one Jackson family friend wasn't impressed. "Those are tears of nothing," Las Vegas magician Majestik Magnificent told E! News after court today. "Compared to the tears that Katherine Jackson had...No sympathy. I ain't buying it." Not surprisingly, Murray wasn't the only one who shed tears today: Rebbie and You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login cried and passed tissues as they listened to the recording of their brother speaking. You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login dabbed at her eyes with a tissue and Katherine cried as prosecutors played a video taken June 23 of Jackson singing "The Way You Make Me Feel," and then "Earth Song" on June 24, the last footage ever shot of him singing.
4. Steady Stream: Who needs TruTV?! La Toya Jackson You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login! Since there are cameras in the courtroom, it's not as if she was spilling any confidential secrets, but her run of commentary was interesting nonetheless, from "It sickens me to see what they did to my brother!! Seeing his lifeless body laying there on the gurney is heart wrenching!" to her last tweet, "What an interesting day!" (FYI, people are not allowed to have their phones on when court is in session, and La Toya was present for all of the day's statements and testimony, diligently taking notes throughout. But we analyzed the timestamps and she conceivably could have been tweeting during their lunch break and various recesses.)
Deputy Dist. Atty. David Walgren height=300 Al Seib-Pool/Getty Images

 5. D.A. McDreamy: The likely star from the legal world to arise from this trial is Deputy D.A. Walgren. There is already quite a bit of buzz about the handsome prosecutor and, if people are going to find a distraction or something to fixate on to better stomach these morbid proceedings, it might as well be Walgren's suits, haircut and mannerisms!
Court concluded today after opening statements from both sides and testimony from prosecution witnesses Kenny Ortega and This Is It promoter Paul Gongaware from AEG Live. The judge instructed the jury to return Tuesday at 8:45 a.m.

#1. It's strange that never before seen pictures are now popping up and in court of all places!  afraid/
#2. How is it that Murray had a tape of Michael in that condition, what was he planning on doing with the tape? What a script!
#3. Was it ever proven that this Conrad Murray was same Conrad Murray "the Actor?" I don't remember. But how can you go from staring down the family and the fans, to tears and red eyes in a matter a few days? I don't buy it either!
#4. So why was LaToya allowed to have her phone on in the courtroom? Something to make you go hmmmmmmmmm!
#5. No comment, got nothing to do with this hoax in my opinion!

It all makes for a good blockbuster movie if you ask me!!

Ruling clears way for start of Michael Jackson trial

LOS ANGELES -- An appeals court refused Wednesday to order the jury sequestered in the trial of
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login doctor, Conrad Murray, clearing the way for jury selection to begin Thursday.

The California 2nd District Court of Appeals also declined to delay the trial while the issue is argued. The court found that Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor did not abuse his discretion when he decided not to sequester.

Defense lawyers had argued that jurors would be "poisoned" by publicity unless they were kept in isolation during the trial. The defense predicted that jurors will be inundated with reports in supermarkets, bars, gyms and coffee shops, and on the Internet.

Pastor has said he trusts jurors to obey his orders to ignore publicity in the high-profile involuntary manslaughter case and declined to have them sequestered.

"The court has read and considered the petition," the brief court decision said. "The petition is denied in the absence of a showing of abuse of discretion."

In a separate ruling, Pastor gave the go ahead for a prosecution expert's testimony about a study of the drug that killed the pop star. But he delayed ruling on the admissibility of another study from Chile because it is apparently unpublished.

Defense lawyers say Jackson overdosed by drinking propofol when his doctor wasn't watching. Prosecutors say that was impossible. The drug is normally given intravenously.

The permitted study, which was published in Scandinavia, compares methods of administering propofol to piglets.

The second study by a noted Chilean anesthesiologist used volunteer students who drank propofol. Deputy District Attorney David Walgren said the report supports the opinion of prosecution expert Dr. Steven Shafer that "the rapid hepatic metabolism of propofol makes it impossible for Michael Jackson to have received a fatal overdose by drinking propofol."

He said that Shafer has submitted a written opinion that "there is zero possibility that the propofol was orally ingested."

Walgren quoted from Shafer's opinion that "there is almost nothing in Murray's care of Michael Jackson that reflected the actions of a trained physician."

He said that Shafer, an expert in anesthesiology will say that Murray is responsible for Jackson's death "through extreme and unconscionable violations of the standard of care."

A panel of 160 prospective jurors has been ordered to court for the first round of jury selection. They will be asked if any hardship prevents them from serving. If not, they will be given a 38-page questionnaire to fill out.

UPDATE: A California Appeals court has just denied Dr. Murray's defense team motion to have the jury sequestered. Jury selection will begin Thursday in Los Angeles.
Dr. Conrad Murray will take the stand in a desperate bid to beat involuntary manslaughter charges, Star magazine is exclusively reporting.
The embattled doctor is charged in connection with the 2009 death of his former patient, King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
Murray had originally planned to point the finger at Jackson’s dermatologist, Dr. Arnold Klein, claiming he got the singer hooked on Demerol and other powerful narcotics.
But, just days before the start of the September 8 trial, an LA judge ruled that Klein You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login — thereby blowing a hole in Murray’s defense and forcing him to take the stand himself.
“Dr. Murray is, naturally, devastated,” his lawyer, Edward Chernoff, told Star in an exclusive interview about not being able to call Dr. Klein as a witness.
“He sees forces aligned against him and does not know why he’s not allowed to put on a defense.”

Hi all,

I just heard on the news here in LA that Michael's family is preparing for a benefit concert! They said the family included his mother, the brothers and Latoya. They did say what the concert was to benefit but I was so caught off guard that I don't remember what it would benefit.  They did not give a date. They may have mentioned Janet but as I said I was so caught off guard that I don't remember hearing her name.

And this is why I was caught off guard, they said that the family promises that it will be "A Thriller of An  Event!!!   afraid/

I am getting ready for work now and if I hear any more I will post it later today. It's 7:20 a.m. LA time.  Please those of you here in the states keep an ear open and post please! Thank You!

The Movie Theory / The Michael Jackson FIlm Career That Almost Was
« on: July 03, 2011, 02:39:39 AM »
Hi all,
Here is an article that increases my belief even more that this hoax will indeed be turned into a blockbuster movie, and Michael will have one more thing in common with Elvis! As you will read in the article Michael believed Elvis wouldn't have been so remembered if it had not been for all the movies he made. (Emphasis is mine) Happy reading!

The Michael Jackson Film Career That Almost Was
Michael Jackson Planned to Step into Jimmy Cagney’s Shoes, says ‘Captain EO’ Producer and Longtime Pal Rusty Lemorande

You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Unlike his idol Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson never established himself as a movie star - namely in a musical remake of the 1938 James Cagney flick Angels with Dirty Faces - and it’s a regret he took to his grave.
That, according to the King of Pop’s Captain EO collaborator, and friend of 25 years, Rusty Lemorande.

"He really wanted a film career," Rusty tells us of Michael.

In an exclusive interview with BlogTalkRadio, Rusty - who produced and co-wrote the 3-D, Francis Ford Coppola-directed Captain EO as a Disney theme park attraction in 1986 - recounts how Michael came to sign on for Angels and another feature during the early ’90s.

“Michael was pretty pleased with our relationship, and he had just set up his film company at Sony-Columbia. And the problem was, with all the development people, etc. - and it was a pretty thick company with people - he wasn’t committing to anything,” Rusty, whose other production credits include the 1983 Barbra Streisand star vehicle Yentil, tells Movie Geeks United! host Jamey DuVall of the pop star, who died June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest.

“I think people didn’t understand how to relate to him. I used to say to him, ‘You’re a little like Arnold Schwarzenegger. You can’t do any part. The part has to be tailored to you. He became a star because of Terminator.
“Well, Michael said, ‘You come up with some ideas.’ And I came up with two fairly quickly.

“One was to remake an old film called 7 Faces of Dr. Lao, which was a [1964] Tony Randall film that involved a child protagonist, and the other was to remake the film Angels with Dirty Faces, which is a James Cagney film. Michael was a huge James Cagney fan.

“Michael loved both projects. Part of it was the way I explained it to him, talked him through it. We had sketches done and creatures made - you really had to turn it into the toy version.

“On Dr. Lao, we had the set miniatures built of the circus and he committed to both, which was a major event at the time.

“One was set up at Warners. And the other was set up at Turner - who owned the remake rights. And everything was going great. Fantastic!

“And then the first scandal hit.”

(In 1993, Michael was accused of child abuse by the father of then 13-year-old Evan Chandler. Though he denied the allegations, the pop idol eventually settled the suit out of court for $22 million.)

“I remember it as vividly as I remember when I heard President Kennedy was shot. I was in my car driving to this studio where we were building these miniatures, where people were going to come and see them. And someone called me and said, ‘Did you see what’s on the news? Michael Jackson’s ranch has been raided,” continues Rusty.

“The truth of the matter is, very simply - and in fairness to Hollywood and the big studios - they have huge investment obligations to their shareholders. So they got very nervous. They didn’t know if the audience would still be there for Michael.

“Suddenly, nobody wanted to touch him… It was quite sad that it never happened, because it was very important for Michael to be in movies.

“He used to talk about Elvis Presley’s career and say, ‘If Elvis hadn’t made all those films, he wouldn’t be as remembered as he was.’”

During the 30-minute interview, Rusty also reveals how he came to earn Michael’s trust while he and The Godfather director were working on Captain EO.

“The secret of working with Michael Jackson was to think, how would you, literally, deal with a 10-year-old boy?

“Francis got it. At one point, he was having trouble directing Michael. Michael didn’t seem to respond to the kind of word dialogue that a director largely uses.

“So [Francis] sent out for some masks: happy masks - like clown masks - and scary masks. And when he wanted to elicit an emotion from Michael, he would put on those masks and it would be as if a child were reacting to a mask. And it was effective!

“Michael loved to go toy shopping. But the adult in him wanted to drive his car. And he drove like a maniac. I was always grippin’ my seat.

“He loved masks. He had masks in his glove compartment, which he would put on as he drove. His explanation was, ‘If I don’t put it on, people will see it’s me and they’ll chase me.’

“Then we’d go into a toy store. Then it was funny, because the mask he’d wear into the store would usually be like a woman’s harem mask kind of thing, with a veil across his face.”
(End of article)

Some where on this sight someone stated that they had read where Michael wanted to make a movie where the people of the world would be the actors! :o  That's very interesting. I wish I could find where they read that.  Because if that is a true statement, I believe that Michael is fulfilling that desire as we type! I so look forward to seeing that record breaking box office hit, "It Was All For Love!" How about you?

And instead of writing about "The Michael Jackson Film Career That Almost Was" they will be  bow/ and writing about, "The Dynamic Film Career of Michael Jackson The Director!"  Yes, I believe the "King of Pop" is dead may he rest in peace. But the "King of Movies" yet lives, make 'em "Speechless" Michael! bounce/

Here is a great movie about the life of Michael.  Written and Directed by Sonia Anderson for TV 2009.  I don't remember seeing this on TV so it is one that I missed. I did not find it posted here. So for those of you who are like me and missed it here it is . The description of the movie says:
"This celebration of a superstar, who shaped modern music for a generation, includes rare interviews with Jackson from the ITN Archives and contributions from friends and family."

It appears to be in two parts. The first part is 77 minutes long.  The second part is why I'm posting this, as it deals with questions surrounding his death. It is mentioned in the movie that "99% of what was written about Michael's death was un-truth."  They talk about the autopsy. They say that to say that Michael faked his own death is "absolutely ridiculous!"  :o Much is written in this that many will find interesting. I think this second part is a separate movie that was attached to this first movie because of what they are saying and questioning about his death.  suspicious// But I could be wrong!

Someone says in the second part "I don't care what they say about him, I don't think they really knew the man."

Hello! :D

It is an IMDb video. So if you can't open the link go to IMDb and enter either "Michael Jackson History: The King of Pop 1958-2009" or "Michael Jackson Unmasked." It takes a little while after the first movie ends before the second one starts so wait for it.

Oprah Winfrey / Oprah says "This is it!!
« on: December 28, 2010, 03:51:30 AM »
Hi everyone,

I was watching The Insider TV news show here in LA last night when they began to talk about Oprah Winfrey's new cable network. They showed a clip of one of her commercials about the network and as it began Oprah said "This is it!" and in big black letters beside her it said "THIS IS IT!"   I couldn't believe my eyes and ears. So I went on the internet to see if I could find that clip they showed, no luck. But I did find this page with another clip on it and in it Oprah also says "This is it!  :?:

The Movie Theory / “They Cage The Animals At Night.”
« on: May 22, 2010, 11:24:23 PM »
Back in 2002 MJ was planning to co-direct a filmed based on Jennings Michael Burch’s autobiography “They Cage The Animals At Night.” I bought the book last year in August and I can see why Michael would have wanted to make it into a feature film. The book is great! I laughed and I cried. It’s a 6x4 paperback with 293 pages and I read it in a matter of hours. I just couldn’t put it down.  If this site had a list of suggested reading material, this one should top the list!

Here is one of the articles on the Internet about the project. And notice it’s on MTV--Michael Jackson Plans To Co-Direct Feature Film 'They Cage the Animals at Night' will be produced by Mel Gibson's Icon Productions.
You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

From what I have read in other places, the second child molestation accusations is what killed this project for MJ, as no one wanted to be associated with the name Michael Jackson. Ms. Jones clearly brings that point out in her book.

Here is a link to a portion of the interview that Michael did with the books’ author, Mr. Burch.   You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

So again we see yet another way how deeply those false accusations hurt MJ. Here is something that he desired to do for maybe 25 years, down the drain!! Having read the book and knowing the perfectionist that MJ himself admitted that he was in his autobiography, this movie would have surely been Academy Award material!  No joke! Making it not only his loss, but our loss as well!  :(

If all the events that have been put into motion starting with that one event on June 25th are being put into a movie, which I really believe they are, then I can understand why he’s doing it. And if this is the case, this is the greatest and the best “V” to ever come across the pages of HIStory!  You go Michael!!

As an added note I would like to say that I believe the movie theory is only one of many reasons behind the hoax!

Thanks for reading!
