La Toya Jackson, sister of the late Michael Jackson, says she is continuing some of the King of Pop's charity work and was among several celebrities who attended the recent Macy's Passport Glamorama event to raise cash for childhood illness, cancer, and HIV/AIDS research. "Ever since my brother passed, it's a very important situation for me because I wanted to follow some of the charities he was involved in," the 54-year-old told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "So I'm continuing that on." Macy's Passport Glamorama has raised over $34 million for charities in Minneapolis, Chicago, San Francisco, and L.A. Michael Jackson's mother Katherine, 80, recently filed a lawsuit against AEG Live, saying the concert promoter caused her son's death by pushing him to rehearse for a series of comeback concerts despite his poor health and because it allegedly hired Dr. Conrad Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to his charge of involuntary manslaughter regarding the King of Pop's 2009 death. Michael Jackson died at age 50 on June 25, 2009 at his Los Angeles home from an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol and two other sedatives that were prescribed and administered by Murray. Meanwhile, Jackson's children Prince Michael Jackson, 13, and Paris Jackson, 12 recently started attending a private school in a Los Angeles suburb after a lifetime of homeschooling and going out in public while wearing veils. His third child, Blanket, who is 8, has said he is not ready to join them, La Toya Jackson told OnTheRedCarpet.com earlier this month. Los Angeles To Recoup From Michael Jackson Memorial Posted Sat Jun 19, 2010 9:16am PDT by Billy Johnson, Jr. in That's Really Week The debate over who should cover the expenses Los Angeles incurred after Michael Jackson's memorial last July has finally been settled. . The estate of Michael Jackson and AEG, the company that produced the event at the Staples Center, have agreed to pay the city $1.3 million, Councilwoman Jan Perry said Friday, according to the Los Angeles Times.. The city's general fund will receive $1 million, and the remaining $300,000 will go to the Los Angeles Police Foundation, Perry added.. The general fund supports public safety and parks, and the LAPF funds will be used to cover equipment at the police department.. Perry and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa expressed gratitude for the resolution. The councilwoman described the Jackson estate and AEG as "conscientious corporate citizens." Villaraigosa echoed Perry's sentiments, calling their actions, "good corporate citizenship," CNN reported.. AEG President Timothy Leiweke said the company was glad to put the matter behind them, CNN reported.. According to CNN, $1,210,000 will be paid in cash. The foundation had already received $90,000.. "It was important to us that all parties agreed that this was not an obligation but a choice we believe was important to make at a time when thousands of city employees are being reduced," Leiweke said.. AEG worked with Jackson as the promoter and producer of the This Is It concert series planned for last July. The company also runs the Staples Center.. Jackson's posthumous film, also titled This Is It, includes concert rehearsal footage from the comeback tour and helped the Jackson estate solidify $80 million through various deals with AEG and Sony, CNN reported.. Jackson's younger brother Randy was hospitalized this week after experiencing chest pain. Sunflowers are now blooming outside Michael Jackson's crypt.
Grower Jason Levin on Friday delivered up to 2,000 sunflowers to the massive marble and concrete Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale.
Levin says he decided to donate the $3,000 to $5,000 worth of bright yellow flowers after hearing Lisa Marie Presley complained there were only a few bouquets, candles and gifts surrounding the tomb. And Levin heard sunflowers were the late pop star's favorite.
Levin, the owner of The Sunflower Guy in San Diego County, loaded up a truck and left Vista at dawn. Three hours later, he was unloading the flowers outside the heavily guarded mausoleum. Forest Lawn officials told him they would take them inside.
Jackson died at age 50 on June 25.

WENN -- Joaquin Phoenix is set to shock fans with the release of his new documentary -- Casey Affleck's film about the actor's bid to become a rap star is packed with controversial scenes of sex, drugs and nudity.
The "Walk The Line" star announced plans to quit acting last year and concentrate on making music. He grew a straggly beard and waded through a string of bizarre public appearances that led many to believe his career-change was little more than a practical joke.
Phoenix's brother-in-law Affleck subsequently announced he would be filming his friend's burgeoning hip-hop career for a documentary, which further fuelled rumors of an elaborate hoax -- even though the Oscar-nominated actor insisted he was serious about becoming a rapper.

Affleck has now completed his film, titled "I'm Still Here: The Lost Year of Joaquin Phoenix," and has previewed the footage in a bid to find a distributor. Reports suggest the picture features shocking scenes of the star apparently snorting cocaine, ordering call girls and having oral sex with a publicist -- fuelling gossip the film is in fact a "mockumentary."
But Affleck is adamant the footage is real. He tells ABC News, "I wanted to explore what I thought would be an interesting period in his life. He said he didn't want to act anymore, he wanted to try doing music, and that, right there, says something's going to happen.
"I had no idea what exactly was going to happen and all that would unfold and every day I spent with him on this journey. It ended up being more and more fascinating, more and more things happened that were both in the public spectacle and a very private internal implosion that I got to witness. It made for this unbelievable, one-of-a-kind movie. You'll find out what was happening in his life in that period -- what was going on before he went on (sic), what was going on afterwards.
