When asked about the Conrad Murray trial, Larry tells the photographers "I don't think he should have been remanded."

The Great Moon Hoax of 1835
By R. J. Brown Editor-in-Chief Every History of American journalistic hoaxing properly begins with the celebrated moon hoax which "made" the New York Sun of Benjamin Day. It consisted of a series of articles, allegedly reprinted from the nonexistent Edinburgh Journal of Science, relating to the discovery of life on the moon by Sir John Herschel, eminent British astronomer, who some time before had gone to the Cape of Good Hope to try out a new type of powerful telescope. The first installment of the moon hoax appeared in the August 25, 1835 edition of the New York Sun on page two, under the heading "Celestial Discoveries." The brief passage read in part as follows: "We have just learnt (sic) from an eminent publisher in this city that Sir John Herschel at the Cape of Good Hope, has made some astronomical discoveries of the most wonderful description, by means of an immense telescope of an entirely new principle." As a matter of fact, Herschel had gone to South Africa in January, 1834, and set up an observatory at Cape Town. Three columns of the first page of the Sun contained a story credited to the Edinburgh Journal of Science. (That publication had suspended some time before.) There was a great deal of matter about the importance of Herschel's impending announcement of his discoveries. On August 25, the Sun ran four columns describing what Sir John had been able to see, looking at the moon through his telescope. So fascinating were the descriptions of trees and vegetation, oceans and beaches, bison and goats, cranes and pelicans that the whole town was talking even before the fourth installment appeared on August 28, 1835, with the master revelation of all: the discovery of furry, winged men resembling bats. The narration was printed as follows: "We counted three parties of these creatures, of twelve, nine and fifteen in each, walking erect towards a small wood... Certainly they were like human beings, for their wings had now disappeared and their attitude in walking was both erect and dignified... About half of the first party had passed beyond our canvas; but of all the others we had perfectly distinct and deliberate view. They averaged four feet in height, were covered, except on the face, with short and glossy copper-colored hair, and had wings composed of a thin membrane, without hair, lying snugly upon their backs from the top of the shoulders to the calves of their legs. The face, which was of a yellowish color, was an improvement upon that of the large orangutan... so much so that but for their long wings they would look as well on a parade ground as some of the old cockney militia. The hair of the head was a darker color than that of the body, closely curled but apparently not woolly, and arranged in two circles over the temples of the forehead. Their feet could only be seen as they were alternately lifted in walking; but from what we could see of them in so transient a view they appeared thin and very protuberant at the heel...We could perceive that their wings possessed great expansion and were similar in structure of those of the bat, being a semitransparent membrane expanded in curvilinear divisions by means of straight radii, united at the back by dorsal integuments. But what astonished us most was the circumstance of this membrane being continued from the shoulders to the legs, united all the way down, though gradually decreasing in width. The wings seemed completely under the command of volition, for those of the creatures whom we saw bathing in the water spread them instantly to their full width, waved them as ducks do theirs to shake off the water, and then as instantly closed them again in a compact form. The Sun reached a circulation of 15,000 daily on the first of the stories. When the discovery of men on the moon appeared Day was able to announce that the Sun possessed the largest circulation of any newspaper in the world: 19,360. Later stories told of the Temple of the Moon, constructed of sapphire, with a roof of yellow resembling gold. There were pillars seventy feet high and six feet thick supporting the roof of the temple. More man-bats were discovered and readers of the Sun were awaiting more astounding details, but the Sun told them the telescope had, unfortunately, been left facing the east and the Sun's rays, concentrated through the lenses, burned a hole "15 feet in circumference" entirely through the reflecting chamber, putting the observatory out of commission. Rival editors were frantic; many of them pretended to have access to the original articles and began reprinting the Sun's series. It was not until the Journal of Commerce sought permission to publish the series in pamphlet form, however, that Richard Adams Locke, confessed authorship. Some authorities think that a French scientist, Nicollet, in this country at the time, wrote them. Before Locke's confession a committee of scientists from Yale University hastened to New York to inspect the original articles; it was shunted from editorial office to print shop and back again until it tired and returned to New Haven. Edgar Allan Poe explained that he stopped work on the second part of The Strange Adventures of Hans Pfaall because he had felt he had been outdone. So many writers have perpetuated the legend that Harriet Martineau in her Retrospect of Western Travel said a Springfield, Massachusetts, missionary society resolved to send missionaries to the moon to convert and civilize the bat men. After a number of his competitors, humiliated because they had "lifted" the series and passed it off as their own, upbraided Day, the Sun of September 16, 1835, admitted the hoax. When the hoax was exposed people were generally amused. It did not seem to lessen interest in the Sun, which never lost its increased circulation. You are not allowed to view links.

As Grant described it, Herschel had found evidence of life forms on the moon, including such fantastic animals as unicorns, two-legged beavers and furry, winged humanoids resembling bats. The articles also offered vivid description of the moon's geography, complete with massive craters, enormous amethyst crystals, rushing rivers and lush vegetation. The New York Sun, founded in 1833, was one of the new "penny press" papers that appealed to a wider audience with a cheaper price and a more narrative style of journalism. From the day the first moon hoax article was released, sales of the paper shot up considerably. It was exciting stuff, and readers lapped it up. The only problem was that none of it was true. The Edinburgh Journal of Science had stopped publication years earlier, and Grant was a fictional character. The articles were most likely written by Richard Adams Locke, a Sun reporter educated at Cambridge University. Intended as satire, they were designed to poke fun at earlier, serious speculations about extraterrestrial life, particularly those of Reverend Thomas Dick, a popular science writer who claimed in his bestselling books that the moon alone had 4.2 billion inhabitants. Readers were completely taken in by the story, however, and failed to recognize it as satire. The craze over Herschel's supposed discoveries even fooled a committee of Yale University scientists, who traveled to New York in search of the Edinburgh Journal articles. After Sun employees sent them back and forth between the printing and editorial offices, hoping to discourage them, the scientists returned to New Haven without realizing they had been tricked. On September 16, 1835, the Sun admitted the articles had been a hoax. People were generally amused by the whole thing, and sales of the paper didn’t suffer. With the show from the very beginning, Hart has had a million adventures and interviews that you could pick her brain about all day long...
I know it's hard to pick, but do you have a favorite interview of all time?
It's so tough! I mean, it comes down to the same handful of interviews, but I have to say my time with Michael Jackson was so special, it was so unique, because nobody got that time. Yes, Oprah did that sit-down interview at Neverland Ranch with him, but you know what? Years before that, I had been in Pensacola, Florida with Michael, watching him rehearse for his Bad Tour. I was there with him on stage for two days, watching him be the masterful leader of every move, every note, every intonation of what he did, and it was remarkable.
And then when I was with him in Kansas City and walked him out on the stage, he held my hand through the tunnel, right out to the edge of the stage, then let go and transformed himself from this shy person that he was into this magnificent genius performer. It was the most remarkable thing I'd ever seen. It really was mind-blowing.

(1010 WINS) – Anybody can make a paper airplane at their kitchen table but imagine building a real plane inside your home. One New Jersey man did just that. Michael Jackson, a 53-year-old computer programmer, built his own airplane from scratch in his tight Jersey City townhouse. “The room I had to work in was about 18 to 20-feet-long. Each wing is 25-feet-long, so it was very difficult to fit it in,” Jackson told 1010 WINS’ Steve Sandberg. It took him 1,800 hours — over 14 months — to build and put the 785-pound Senox Motorized Glider together piece by piece. “I had never done it before but I figured I could do it, I’m pretty good at figuring things out,” Jackson said. “Some people thought I was crazy but my father was very supportive.” Jackson built the fuselage and installed the instrument panel but he couldn’t put on the tail section inside the cramped apartment. “I had to climb under the wing to go from my dining room into my kitchen it was really a tight fit,” Jackson said. The plane was moved out of his apartment to the Blairstown Airport where a few weeks ago Jackson took its maiden voyage. “It flew perfectly,” Jackson said. “I got up to about 500 feet and I looked over to the wing and thought, ‘Well, I built this thing and it’s working.’” You are not allowed to view links.

It reminds me of Conrad Murray. Never heard of him before June 25, 2009. This link to IMDB in the "This is It" full cast list, under "Other Crew" you can find "Michael Kane" as "business manager - Michael Jackson" You are not allowed to view links.

So Harvey sang "My Way" written by Paul Anka on TMZ Live a few weeks ago and Paul Anka said he could get Harvey in a recording studio and record him and make it sound really good.

On TMZ on TV today, a camera guy gets Paul out and about somewhere and Paul said that he and Harvey have a secret. The TMZ staff start asking Harvey if he's going to record My Way with Paul and Harvey won't answer the question straight up, saying "It's impossible" although no one believes his denials.

Carolinensiel, Germany - Michael Jackson's father Joe has been enjoying massages, winter sunshine and long walks along the beach during a stay on Germany's North Sea coast, the family's European manager Ralf Sesselberg said Monday.
'He is having massages and being spoilt,' Sesselberg said of the father of the late King of Pop who died in 2009.
Jackson, 82, was staying in the spa resort of Carolinensiel- Harlesiel, a small fishing community that he has visited on five previous occasions.
'He finds the people so pleasant. They are friendly, but keep their distance,' Sesselberg said.
Jackson is to spend about three weeks in northern Germany, including shopping trips to Hamburg and a visit to a ship in the port town of Wilhelmshaven.
The Jackson family patriarch has been writing a book about his family's history, his manager said. The holiday was a welcome break from his busy schedule in the US.
'He is enjoying the peace,' Sesselberg said.

Several times Joseph Jackson has visited our beautiful city to visit. There are some nice anecdotes and associated snapshots that show him at the Museum Harbour, on the "brothers" or at the beach Harlesiel.
Some Caroline Sieler and guests already have their very own Joseph
Jackson story and then come next Sunday to have a few more.
How beautiful! We're always looking for prominent visiting Carolinensiel-Harlesiel.

Die Vorbereitungen für die Lesung am Sonntag laufen auf Hochtouren und nun haben wir heute bestätigt bekommen, dass wir Mr. Joseph Jackson als Ehrengast zur Lesung am Sonntag begrüßen dürfen!
Schon einige Male hat Joseph Jackson unserem schönen Ort einen Besuch abgestattet. Es gibt schon einige nette Anekdoten und dazugehörige Schnappschüsse, die ihn unter anderem im Museumshafen, auf der „Gebrüder“ oder am Strand Harlesiel zeigen.

Now you are releasing your first international single, All Around The World, under the name O-Bee, with Genevieve Jackson, the 21-year-old youngest daughter of Michael Jackson’s brother Randy.
I did this song when I was working on my new EP, which is coming out soon in Norway. I felt that the song needed a female vocalist and Genevieve was the first one I came to think of. So I called her up and she said yes.
When are you releasing your album?
Sometime this summer. The album is personal and is about my life. My life is insane but I hope that people will listen to what I have to say. Now I have recorded a song with Shontelle. My life is like a film, I’ve seen a lot.
Is it a good thing to always be linked to Michael Jackson?
It’s mostly positive, people will always have expectations but I don’t try to live up to them.
What do you say to all the controversy surrounding him – bankruptcy, child molestation charges and that he changed his looks so much?
They pissed me off. Most of it are lies. But Michael used to say ”The bigger the star, the bigger the target,” so he was used to it. But another thing that makes me angry is that when he died, people who earlier spread rumours about him now would praise him.
In your eulogy to Michael Jackson, you wrote that you promise to make him proud. How does it feel that he doesn’t get to see your breakthrough?
I didn’t mean that as an artist, music wasn’t on my mind then. I lost my lust to dance and sing but I gained it back around last summer, but then it wasn’t about music. I meant the way he raised me, I wanted to make him proud. I don’t know if he would be proud of me today but I hope so. Michael always said to me ”Go for your dreams.” You are not allowed to view links.
