Dr. Conrad Murray's legal team claims it may not be ready for the preliminary hearing next month, because they still have not received the full criminal file on the Michael Jackson manslaughter case.

Miranda Sevcik, spokesperson for Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, tells TMZ they have only received 3,500 pages of discovery.  Sevcik cites a news report in which the D.A.'s office claims it has "hundreds of thousands of pages of material."

But a D.A. spokesperson told TMZ on Friday that the statement that there were "hundreds of thousands" of pages was their error ... and in fact there are only  "thousands of pages" and the defense has received "the bulk of it."

Sevcik's response ... "It's odd. It seems like an awfully big miscalculation."

Sevcik says if the defense team does not get all the docs soon, they may ask to delay the preliminary hearing -- set for June 14.

Yeah, it's really ODD!!!  Don't tell me 1 year is not enough to get all the necessary documents...... Unless there is nothing to prove ;)

Whether 1,000 or many thousands, I am curious about the information in those documents. I understand the need for details but c'mon does it take that much to spell out what happened.

A possible delay doesn't come as much of a surprise. I had a hunch that this would drag on and not be tied up in a neat bow with a conclusion any time soon.

I'm not very surprised about a delay.

Maybe it also means, MIchael isn't ready, you know?

Yeh, I agree with that statement.  MJ is probably still not ready, or something has come up and not going according to plan.
I wonder whether CM's role could also be for providing some incriminating evidence to the police.  As always, with L.O.V.E   xox

this is a joke - but expected a lawyer after the last hearing said this would be dragged out for 2 years - looks like it

As always the media reporting any madness that comes to mind.
"Miscalculation", .. if the media have a great miscalculation in this

The news says that he can request a delay, we have to see if it is granted 8-)

I think the hearing is being delayed because there is something bigger happening behind the scenes.  I believe there may be an investigation going on with other doctors such as Klein and people that tried to do MJ dirty.  I really believe MJ found out some stuff and went into hiding and there are going to be some people taken down.  When the truth really comes out I think everybody is going to be shocked.  Murray is being protected in my eyes for some reason.

pretty obvious to me: 'someone' is buying time here...look at what happened on the first court date. all they did that day was to decide if murray can keep his license, nothing else.

i'm pretty sure that the judge may be discovering these days that some of the 'hundreds of thousands' of docs they all received don't even look right...which of course requires some more and throrough looking into...

mike thought this up for at least 10-15 years, if not longer, with a million details included. now someone outside of mike's head (not being that kind of genius and especially not thinking of a hoax) is gonna figure all that out in a year?  :?

i bet mikes is somewhere having a ball watching people tryin' to figure out what happened, how and why...it's like 'domino day'. you spend weeks and months with this elaborate setup and on kick-off day (for mike: march 5, 2009) you tip the first stone and sit back and watch it all go down, just the way you set it up. there might be some stones who will stay up, but that's the calculated risk (or intended) and that's why you set up a lot more stones so you can be sure to break the record in the end.

Perhaps in light of the Lopez death (murder), more time is needed to explore that angle. I hope they have been doing so all along because something very shady is going on.  I hope the real threats are being taken care of instead of being swept under the rug. There is no doubt in my mind that this is much much bigger than a case of propofol/drug addiction.

Has anyone noticed how TMZ seem to be slipping??

Today all the news has come from a UK based newspaper (UK) and twitter (Randy).

All TMZ can muster up lately is this non-story on Murray  (he MAY ask for a delay.. yeah, well. Pigs MAY fly over the moon too)...  and a load of clap trap about a church.

Slipping TMZ..  slipping!   They are dropping the ball.   :D
