Title: Michael Jackson tribute gig Wembley Stadium
Post by: ladylee1979 on March 15, 2010, 04:08:30 AM
Michael Jackson could finally get the star-studded tribute concert he never had. The singer’s older brother Jermaine is hoping to stage a public memorial to Jacko in London after a failed attempt to get to A-list stars to perform in Vienna last year.

The plans look closer to reality this week with reports the former Jackson Five singer has booked Wembley Stadium on June 8 for the mega shebang.A spokesman for the venue would say only that she was ‘unable to confirm’ the booking.

However, pieces of the puzzle are coming together after Jermaine was spotted by members of the public taking in a tour of the stadium on Monday. Now all he has to do is convince the stars who pulled out of his last planned gig to recommit.

This time Prince, Justin Timberlake, Carlos Santana, Shakira and Whitney Houston are being touted to sing for the late star.

The 55-year-old also wants to stamp his legacy on the planned show-stopper by reportedly calling it Tribute By Jermaine.

This week he said the show would be the perfect way to honour his brother, who died in Los Angeles at his rented mansion on June 25 last year, aged 50.

‘The best way and most suitable way is to assemble the world’s largest tribute in history that is only fitting to a man who moved the hearts and souls of an unimaginable amount,’ he said.

And, of course, Jermaine is making sure he doesn’t miss a commercial trick with talk the show will be filmed for a DVD release.

Earlier plans for a concert in Vienna were canned after the city’s deputy mayor, Renate Brauner, said they would not help pay the bill.

The Wembley concert would be the latest tribute for Jacko after he was honoured at the Oscars on Sunday and Grammy Awards in January.

Very strange because Jermaine said on Dutch TV that this tribute would be in August 2010!!

That is strange.  Another little oddity, if you go to SeeingClues blog, there is a video clip of MJ and kids coming out of a doctor's office and the media asks him, while he is getting into the car, if he plans on touring with the J5 and he says, yes in June  :o   I don't know if he meant, that June (how could it be, if he was doing O2 in July) or if he meant June 2010?  Or was he just giving a hurried up answer to just get into the car and get them away from him.

Check it out, it's on SeeingClues blog.  Oh, and it's very hard to hear, a lot of garble in the sound, so listen carefully.

Would be cutting it fine if it was June 8th, there are several footie matches in the run up to that week you would think they would need more time to set everything up.

But still no confirmation from Wembley, so I'm still not convinced this is actually going to happen.

Hmmm, very interesting that Jermaine wants to have MJ's tribute gig at Wembley Stadium. Is Wembley Stadium the last concert stage that MJ played on the History Tour? I find that an interesting accident of chance! 8-)
