LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
The late Michael Jackson will appear in the 25th anniversary remake of “We Are The World,” Access Hollywood has learned.

Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones, who, along with Michael, masterminded the original version in 1985, told Access’ Shaun Robinson on Wednesday that the King of Pop’s original vocals and footage would be used in the song and video. Michael will appear posthumously in a split-screen with sister Janet Jackson joining him.

“To have Michael’s presence singing his part is the best gift we could ever get,” Lionel said. “His original image and him seeing his part.”

Lionel called the duet with Janet “magical.”

“She’s singing with Mike,” Lionel said. “It was all put together with fabulous choreography. It’s magical.”

The request came straight from Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, herself, the pair told Access.

Michael is the only star to appear on both versions. The rest of the dozens of singers (not to mention rappers and actors) involved will be a new group – for a new generation

I wonder if he'll look like he did now. Then it would be new. Remember the green person, anyone will be able to put themselves in the place of that person. You can be a part of it!

Once again Michael in present tense. It was reported that MICHAEL WOULD DEFEND HIMSELF IN COURT. and the article said they would use ''Old'' Videos of michael to show that he wasn't  HIGH like murray said.. now this MICHAEL WILL BE APART OF THE WATW REMAKE...... WTF. :|

I'm a bit bewildered at all this $$ going to the 2010 olympics while the people of Haiti
are absolutely devastated and suffering terribly, but this event will certainly have the
'Global' audience needed for a world announcement......?

After the GRAMMY, remember the artists involved were rehearsing and recording the WATW remake. If Michael has to be in it - singing(but for sure they will have another lie about Michael couldn't make it because of the JUNE 25 DEATH), then they must have recorded it with the new arrangement(whoelse would arrange it with but Michael) after the Grammy. They have mentioned that it will be used for the OLYMPICS.
So, everything happened after the Grammy, right?New recording/arrangement and all after the Grammy.

If they come out with the flimsy excuse that Michael is dead, how could a dead person arrange/record and be a part of the Remake after the Grammy?

I just don't know what the next lie they have to feed us with.

From the link, these MAINLY caught my attention:
1)“To have Michael’s presence singing his part is the best gift we could ever get,” Lionel said. “His original image and him seeing his part.”

2)Lionel called the duet with Janet “magical.”
“She’s singing with Mike,” Lionel said. “It was all put together with fabulous choreography. It’s magical
.”

Don't forget to watch the vids on the the right side of the same link.

INDEED!!!! In the news, they've been showing some things about the OLYMPICS and they showed the rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony but few seconds only, and I was listening to the background music just in case there's the music of Michael, but nothing yet, and I think it will be just around 10 to 11 hours(more or less) til the Opening Ceremony

I remembered something. Remember the paintings as clues (Donut Queen, etc.), one of them I remembered was something with ATHLETES-Olympics.
Sooooo, in a few hours, THE OLYMPICS 2010 will have its Opening Ceremony with Michael included in the WATW Remake. I'll try to check the old board and find that certain painting.

They said Michael will be a part of it.  But they mentioned that they will be taking the old video part of him singing WATW from the original and putting it side by side with Janet.  Sort of like the remake of the song Unforgettable, where Natalie Cole sings with her late father Nat King Cole.

Is this what they are going to do?  Also, Hank Williams Jr. did a song with his late father Hank Sr. that way.

I hope it will be more than that, that it will actually be him, but whatever it is, it will be great cause its him, one way or the other  :)

s worldwide screening of the full, seven-minute version of the music video is planned for Saturday.

The worldwide simulcast on 53 domestic and international channels is planned for 2 p.m. Eastern time.

A three-minute version of the video aired Friday. Filmed by Oscar winner Paul Haggis, the video shows images of devastation from the island nation after the January 12 earthquake that has claimed more than 200,000 lives.

It also shows some of the 85 artists who gathered in Los Angeles earlier this month to re-record the 1985 charity anthem.

Teen sensation Justin Bieber opens the song. Also featured are Jennifer Hudsonand Nicole Scherzinger, Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles, Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion and Fergie. Josh Groban, LL Cool J, Nick Jonas, Lil Wayne (and his auto-tune), Jeff Bridges, Kanye West, Miley Cyrus and Haitian-American singer Wyclef Jean also get screen time.

Michael Jackson, who co-wrote the original hit with Lionel Richie, is shown in a clip from the original music video. In the new version, Jackson, wearing his trademark 1980s pseudomilitary regalia, sings alongside his sister, Janet Jackson.

Richie and fellow producer Quincy Jones introduced the song Friday via video, saying money raised by its sales will provide food, shelter and medicine for the Haitian people.

Fans can download “We Are the World 25 for Haiti” online now. All proceeds will benefit earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti.
