Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray is going to hand himself in today (05.02.10) and face questions from authorities into the criminal case stemming from the singer's death.

Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray will hand himself over to authorities today (05.02.10).

The late pop legend - who died of acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009 - was last seen alive by his personal physician, but with his death ruled homicide by drug overdose last week, and the anaesthetic Propofol considered the primary factor, Murray faces questioning today (05.02.10).

After much haggling between prosecutors, defence lawyers and law enforcement officials over whether the physician should be arrested or not, it appears the doctor will now hand himself in to authorities.

According to reports, he will face a judge at 1.30pm, where it is thought a video camera will record the event.

Law enforcement officials previously revealed that prosecutors planned to charge the doctor with involuntary manslaughter, alleging he gave Michael, 50, the powerful anaesthetic to help him sleep but that instead led to his death.

Officials from the Los Angeles Police Department had wanted to go to the residence he was staying at to arrest him, so it wouldn't look as though he was being given special treatment, but Attorney Ed Chernoff said last night (04.02.10) that Murray would turn himself in because an arrest would only be for the benefit of news cameras.

He said: "You tell us where, we'll be there. It's a waste of time, it's just a show. There's no reason to handcuff a guy, drag him downtown so you can take a photo when he's been sitting here for a week waiting to turn to himself in."
