Title: We are the world remake
Post by: Hollie on February 02, 2010, 04:11:51 AM
Hey guys I tried to post earlier from my iPhone and I dont think it worked but hey I'm gona have to try again from here as I'm in study ATM.
Anyway this morning I was watching the news and they were talking about Haiti and reporting about it then they went on to say about the new version of the famous song we are the world being re recorded soon. Then they showed a clip of the old version and just had the part zoomed in showing MIchael Jackson. They went on to say that the new version will include the voices of michael Jackson, liniol richci, celien dion ect I was like huh. Anyone find this weird? And surely if they were just using a recording from the old one someone somewhere would have to sign a contract who's close to mj and give them the rights to use it.?
What do you think.

I think we have to listen good to the voice of Michael on the new version. You can hear a difference between Michael's voice then and his voice now. :D

Perhaps they received permission from the Jackson Estate. There lies control of MJ related things i.e. music and images.

I think I read an article stating that Michael recorded new vocals for the song, for the concert. Perfect timing.

No wonder MJ was so seldom seen in recent years. He was just busy busy busy.

And i wonder who came up with this idea...? Why his song..?
Anyone think this may be his way of donating to Haiti??

I mean sure he could donate anonymously but the aount he donates to charities... you think they would be a little shocked to get an anoymous dontation of a couple of millions... ?

Yes, there is an article I posted here that states they have the vocals from TII for this. He was supposed to sing it during the tour. The funny thing is there is NO mention of it in the movie, CD or the home versions. This was such an important song and it was left out. I find that very interesting. And now out of thin air we have vocals for remake. BAM!

It is possible that these vocals are from the recording sessions of the song.
Or maybe MJ made vocals years ago for a version of this song.
Or, I hope, may be he made these vocals this years, after june 25  :D

So they couldn't use that version of TII because he sang the "What about us..."parts without this power to  to save his voice...

Right!  But why leave out WRTW if it was recorded? It would of made a great addition to the movie - but they saved it for now. :)

Picking her nose in the avatar made me laugh.

However, I stopped laughing when I saw that Hollie's  profile says student and ...waitress.   Now we know what she does for customers who give lousy tips.

Sorry, Hollie...I couldn't resist.

Hi!!

I was just thinking: how convenient is it that they recorded We are the world exactly 7 months and... 7 days after Michael's "death"....?

Added to the fact that Prince just had to stress on those 7 months in his speech of course..........

Randy Phillips and AEG have their fingerprints all over this. I pulled the quotes that made me shake my head...

“We Are the World — 25 for Haiti” will premiere this month during coverage of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics on NBC, according to a release from promoter AEG Live.

None of the original performers returned Monday because none were asked, said Randy Phillips, chief executive of AEG Live and also Richie’s manager. “This is about a new generation mixed with an old generation,” Phillips said.

Some top music names were either unavailable or chose not to rerecord the original, Phillips said. Taylor Swift’s touring schedule kept her from joining, and Beyonce had returned to New York with husband Jay-Z, he said. Janet Jackson, who was out of town, will contribute vocals remotely, he said.

the remake is 25 years later then the original. 2 + 5 = 7 :D
