A star is Born 1976 with Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson about a singer.

Barbra Streisand offered Elvis in 1974 to play the part as the singer and he really wanted to play the role.
Elvis accepted.
His manager Parker killed the deal and Streisand had to no other option to ask Kris for the singers male role.
The end of the movie is known...drug and alcohol and the singer dies in a car accident.
