Title: Why Would UCLA Be Involved in a Hoax??
Post by: pepper on January 19, 2011, 12:42:36 AM
I've always wondered how UCLA may have been persuaded regarding the way it handled the "death" of Michael...

Did we know this about the background of Arnold Klein - how much he has been/is currently involved with UCLA?     Also Elizabeth Taylor has made great contributions to UCLA... and notice some of the people on Elizabeth's "Honorary Committee"

Arnold William Klein, MD

Since opening his private practice in 1975, Dr. Arnold William Klein has offered the very best in dermatology and cosmetic surgery. Widely regarded as the father of modern cosmetic dermatology, he pioneered the field of minimally invasive aesthetics and developed the injection techniques for fillers such as Botox, Collagen, and Restylane.
Not only does Dr. Klein run a very busy, prestigious practice, he also volunteers as a professor of medicine and dermatology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. Additionally, the UCLA Division of Dermatology named an endowed chair to honor Dr. Klein in 2004.
In 2010, Dr. Klein was named a consultant to the FDA.
Throughout his career, Dr. Klein has been deeply involved in philanthropy. In the early days of the AIDS crisis, Dr. Klein was the first physician to diagnose a case of Kaposi’s sarcoma in Southern California. Since then, he has been an ardent supporter of AIDS causes. In 1985, in the living room of his Los Angeles home, Dr. Klein, along with David Geffen, Dr. Mathilde Krim, and others, founded the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR). Dr. Klein continues to serve amfAR as a founding director.
In 2007, in honor of his friend Dame Elizabeth Taylor, Dr. Klein helped establish the Elizabeth Taylor Endowment for the UCLA CARE Center, a renowned facility for HIV/AIDS research and treatment. In November 2008, an article in L’Uomo Vogue reported that Dr. Klein and the organizations he founded have raised more than $274 million for HIV research and care.
Dr. Klein also serves as a trustee to various boards of directors, including the Jennifer Jones-Simon Foundation and The Hereditary Disease Foundation. The HDF discovered the first gene for Huntington’s chorea. Dr. Klein, along with his longtime friend, renowned architect Frank Gehry, works with the foundation to raise funds and awareness for inherited diseases.
Dr. Klein also co-founded the Rose Tarlow-Arnold W. Klein Breast Cancer Foundation at UCLA to provide breast cancer treatment for individuals who are unable to afford it.
A prolific writer, Dr. Klein has published more than 150 scientific papers in such prestigious peer-reviewed journals as the New England Journal of Medicine, Science Magazine and JAMA. He has written four medical textbooks, including his most recent, Tissue Augmentation in Clinical Practice, second edition. Additionally, he has written numerous textbook chapters on cosmetic dermatology, soft tissue augmentation, aesthetic surgery, and botulinum toxin. He has also served on the editorial board and as an expert reviewer of numerous national and international medical publications, including the Journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, Archives of Dermatology, Aesthetic Surgery, Aesthetic Buyers Guide, British Journal of Dermatology andthe Journal of Cutaneous Aging and Cosmetic Dermatology.
As an adviser, consultant, and/or principal investigator, Dr. Klein has worked with Allergan, Anika, Elan Pharmaceuticals, Ethicon, Genzyme, Johnson & Johnson, Medicis Aesthetics, Ortho-Neutrogena, Skin-Medica and Q-Med. In February 2006, he received the Allergan Award for Pioneering Work in Soft Tissue Augmentation, just one of many awards presented to Dr. Klein throughout his career.
Dr. Klein was born on February 27, 1945 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, and grew up in Michigan and Miami. He graduated cum laude with a B.A. degree in biology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1967. In 1971, he graduated cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Medicine. Dr. Klein completed his post-graduate education as a medical intern at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and went on to complete medical residencies in dermatology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and UCLA, where he was the Chief Resident in Dermatology in 1975. He has been recognized in Who's Who in the World, Best Doctors in America and Men of Achievement.

The Elizabeth Taylor Endowment for the UCLA Clinical AIDS Research & Education Center

In 2007 with the official opening of the new off campus location for the CARE Center, Dame Elizabeth Taylor generously offered to hep the CARE Center raise funds to assure its continued existence and to achieve its objectives for providing exceptional and compassionate care to individuals with HIV in Los Angeles and to conduct research to improve HIV care for all affected by this disease.

To date over $1.4 million has been raised toward the goal of $5 million for the Elizabeth Taylor Endowment Fund at UCLA. We have left all of the donations in the account (corpus) and have begun acccruing interest to support the program. After an initial donation of $500,000, Elizabeth Taylor HIV/AIDS Foundation (ETHAF) was able to donate an additional $610,000 raised in 2007 and 2008. In the summer of 2008 the Entertainment AIDS Alliance was able to raise $50,000 at its annual Wine and Wisdom gala and the proceeds were donated to the endowment. This is in addition to the foundation’s early support and the generous support of the Annenberg Foundation ($250,000) and numerous other individuals.

This is a question that's been haunting me for a while too. I know that generally in the medical world there's a lot of lobbying because it is business as well. And when it comes to business it is a small world. Connections on all fields, MD's, producers, singers, journalists, celebs, actors, lawyers etc., on a larger scale than the UCLA are made easily. At i.e. fundraising events people come together and groups will be made. I'd think that a particular group made plans to help Michael, with each their own speciality and task, which can be a strong combination. I honestly believe that this group is not driven by money but by love and inspiration for Michael, which is not a big effort ;)

You know how you get to bouncing around on the net while researching and you come across other items one after the other?  I find there are really a LOT of other sites with beLIEvers!!  But, upon one I found this article about UCLA and also Cedars-Sinai hospitals being closed off at the same times Michael was being, well, transported I'll say.
Check this out...I couldn't find anything in search on this other hosp. so hopefully I'm not passing on an old idea.  It's new to me though, so if it' old ...or even new and you have ideas...let me know :)

Thanks Pepper!  We have not given Arnie Klein the respect he deserves. I believe he's in on the hoax and MJ trusts him completely, with his face and his "plan". He is the best of the best at what he does, and pioneer. The MJ peeing in a cup story, as Souza suggests, was either about Bubbles or just a made-up crazy prank lie that MJ sanctioned. The clout of AK and Elizabeth Taylor could easily have provided for UCLA being at MJ's disposal, as in whatever he wanted he got for June 25, 09. Money and prestige opens doors.

Could've there really have been another ambulance that left from another drive and that one gone to Cedars-Sinai Hosp??  That's where at least one of Michael's children was born...just wondering...because we know that really, Michael did not go to ucla.

Before filling out the forms, please read this important information.

There are several reasons why an anatomical gift might not be suitable for study; anything that destroys or distorts the normal anatomy of the body extensively can make it difficult to conduct meaningful anatomical study. Some examples of conditions that make anatomical study difficult are:

  * An autopsy that has been performed
    * Serious injury or trauma
    * Infection Precautions- including HIV, Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, CJD and MRSA.
    * Recent extensive surgery (this does not mean that individuals that have had surgery are automatically disqualified);
    * Advanced cancers;
    * Advanced muscular atrophy;
    * Donations of organs to other programs;
    * Weight in excess of 250 lbs.;
    * Bodies arriving more than 24 hours from time of death;
    * Advanced decomposition;
    * If the number of donated bodies required by the school will be exceeded.

The Donated Body Program reserves the right to decline or accept the donation of an anatomical gift as set forth by health and safety code §7154 (a).

Thanks, skyways!  Yes, this donor body information is VERY interesting...

According to this-
http://donatedbodyprogram.ucla.edu/work ... cation.pdf (http://donatedbodyprogram.ucla.edu/workfiles/2008_Full_Donor_Registration_Application.pdf)

On Page 4 - "The Program accepts donations of human bodies for use by various individuals and institutions in connection with education and research... with the general intent of improving the human condition" ;)
"A donated body will be used by the Program and others in a manner to be determined exclusively by the Program..."
"Donations are confidential.  Once a donor's remains have been accepted into the program... the Program will not provide any further information concerning the use and/or disposition of the body."

So it seems that an individual could possibly use a donor body, in a manner determined exclusively by "the Program" at UCLA, and there would not be any information provided concerning the use and/or disposition of that body.

Page 7 - "If a donated body... (is) used by persons... not associated with the University of California campus at which the body is housed, the Program shall be entitled to recover all...related costs...from the end user."

So a person not associated with UCLA could, technically, use a donated body as long as they pay to UCLA all related costs of using the body.

Page 10 and 11 - The form for a third party (not the actual person whose body is being donated) to donate someone else's body.

Page 15 and 16 - Describes the right to control the disposition of the remains of a deceased person -
"A funeral director or cemetery authority shall not be liable to any person or persons for carrying out the instructions of the decedent or the person entitled to control the disposition."

This would absolve Forest Lawn of any legal ramifications...

This is also an interesting link-
http://www.ctdn.org/downloads/Californi ... de7150.pdf (http://www.ctdn.org/downloads/CaliforniaHealthandSafetyCode7150.pdf)

7154 "If a donee (someone who receives the gift of a donated body) accepts an anatomical gift of an entire body, the donee... may allow use of the body in funeral services."

Would absolve whoever orchestrated this of any liability of using someone else's body in a funeral service.

And this link- This is a great one!!
http://law.onecle.com/california/health/7113.html (http://law.onecle.com/california/health/7113.html)

California Health and Safety Code Section 7113
"A cemetery authority or licensed funeral director or a licensed hospital or its authorized personnel may permit or assist, and a physician may perform,an autopsy of any remains in its or his custody if the decedent, prior to his death, authorizes an autopsy in his will or other written instrument, or upon the receipt of a written authorization, telegram, or a verbal authorization obtained by telephone and recorded on tape or other recording device, from a person REPRESENTING HIMSELF to be any of the following: :shock:
(a) The surviving spouse; (b) a surviving child or parent; (c) a surviving brother or sister; d)any other kin or person who has acquired the right to control the disposition of the remains; (e) a
public administrator; (f) a coroner or any other duly authorized public officer. A cemetery authority or a licensed funeral director or a licensed hospital or its authorized personnel is NOT LIABLE for permitting or assisting, and a physician is not liable for performing, an autopsy pursuant to such authorization UNLESS he or it has actual notice that such representation is untrue at the time the autopsy is performed."

Well that absolves a TON of people from liability for the autopsy!
This also makes me think of the phone call CNN got from "the coroner" and the call the L.A.Times got from the "duly authorized public officer" that MJ was indeed "dead". Could it perhaps have been someone representing himself to be "the coroner" or a "duly authorized public officer"?  Hmmmm...
How fascinating that California has laws like this...[/b]
