The Most Random Celebs Ever Sing 'Let It Be'
12/3/2010 2:26 PM PST by Johnny Lopez

If you ever wanted to see the most haphazard assortment of D-list celebs ever assembled ... like David Faustino, Right Said Fred, Alfonso Ribeiro, Tonya Harding ... oh, and Glenn Close sing along to the Beatles hit "Let It Be," then today is your lucky day.

[youtube:373hu3xg]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8cNHCP3juQ[/youtube:373hu3xg]

It's a promo for some Norwegian television show, but looks more like a bizarro "We Are the World"/SNL sketch.

Be prepared to be mesmerized by the randomness.

Things that caught my eye:

Quite a few of these celebrities are well known and famous and not as D-lister as TMZ says. It is a mix of all kinds of celebrities.

The reference to "We are The World"

The name of the Norwegian show that this is an advertisement for is "Gylne Tider" which translates to "Golden Times" or "Golden Ages"
http://translate.google.com/#no|en|Gylne%20Tider

This video was for an advertisement of the shows premeire, of it's 4th season (the third was in 2006) which was on October 31, 2010. So why show us this video 33 days later 34 if you use inclusive reckoning? (3 + 4 = 7)

Golden Age
The term Golden Age comes from Greek mythology and legend and refers to the first in a sequence of four or five (or more) Ages of Man, in which the Golden Age is first, followed in sequence, by the Silver, Bronze, and Iron Ages, and then the present, a period of decline. By extension "Golden Age" denotes a period of primordial peace, harmony, stability, and prosperity.

There are analogous concepts in the religious and philosophical traditions of the Central Asian subcontinent. For example, the Vedic or ancient Hindu culture saw history as cyclical, composed of yugas with alternating Dark and Golden Ages. The Kali yuga (Iron Age), Dwapara (Bronze Age), Treta yuga (Silver Age) and Satya yuga (Golden Age) correspond to the four Greek ages. Similar beliefs occur in the ancient Middle East and throughout the ancient world, as well.

In classical mythology the Golden Age was presided over by the deity Astraea, who was identified with Justice. She lived with men until the end of the Silver Age, but in the Brazen Age, when men became violent and greedy, she fled to the stars, where she appears as the constellation Virgo, holding the scales of Justice, or Libra.

Political Significance of the Golden Age
The political interpretation given the Golden Age by Virgil, who situated it in the future, resurfaced in subsequent eras of revolutionary change. The Protestant Queen Elizabeth I of England was frequently hailed by her supporters as the virgin goddess Astraea, and the famous lines of Virgil's fourth Eclogue quoted above are supposed to be the source of the motto Novus ordo seclorum (New Order of the Ages) that appears on the Great Seal of the United States. The British poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792–1822) hailed the promise of the romantic and revolutionary era with these lines, which foretell the dissolution of empires and the advent of a new religion, superior even to Christianity:

The world's great age begins anew,
The golden years return,
The earth doth like a snake renew
Her winter weeds outworn;
Heaven smiles, and faiths and empires gleam
Like wrecks of a dissolving dream....
Saturn and Love their long repose
Shall burst, more bright and good
Than all who fell, than One who rose,
Than many unsubdued.
Not gold, not blood, their altar dowers,
But votive tears and symbol flowers.

The Death of Pan and the Passing of the Golden Age
A story is recounted by Plutarch in his De Oraculorum Defectu (The Obsolescence of Oracles) that sailors heard a cry, "Great Pan is dead!" sweeping across the waves of the Mediterranean, and at that moment the pagan oracles suddenly ceased. Pan is the only pagan god whose death is thus recorded. Subsequently, a tradition grew up among Christian commentators, notably Eusebius of Cesarea, (263–339), in his Praeparatio Evangelica, that the death of Pan coincided with the advent of Jesus, occurring either on the occasion of his birth or of his crucifixion on the first Easter:

The Oracles are dumb,
No voice or hideous hum
Runs through the archèd roof in words deceiving.
Apollo from his shrine
Can no more divine,
With hollow shriek the steep of Delphos leaving.
No nightly trance, or breathèd spell,
Inspire's the pale-eyed Priest from the prophetic cell.
The lonely mountains o're,
And the resounding shore
A voice of weeping heard and loud lament.
From haunted spring, and dale
Edg'd with poplar pale,
The parting Genius is with sighing sent.
With flowre-inwov'n tresses torn,
The Nymphs in twilight shade of tangled thickets mourn.— John Milton, On the Morning of Christ's Nativity [XIX, XX, 1629]

This 17th-century passage, with its poignant evocation of the luminous world of Greek mythology (within a context, nevertheless, of Protestant devotion), greatly influenced 19th-century English Romantic poetry:

The Dead Pan
Gods of Hellas, gods of Hellas,
Can ye listen in your silence?
Can your mystic voices tell us
Where ye hide? In floating islands,
With a wind that evermore
Keeps you out of sight of shore?
Pan, Pan is dead.—Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806–61)

Later Victorian and Edwardian writers lamented the death of paganism and its replacement by Christianity as the passing of a former Golden Age of physical beauty and sexual and political freedom, which they contrasted with what they saw as the sexual and political repressiveness and crass materialism of the modern era, as in Oscar Wilde's invocation of Pan:

Pan
O goat-foot God of Arcady!
This modern world is gray and old,
And what remains to us of thee?....
Then blow some trumpet loud and free,
And give thine oaten pipe away,
Ah, leave the hills of Arcady !
This modern world hath need of thee!—Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

While Algernon Charles Swinburne wrote:
Thou hast conquered, O pale Galilean; the world has grown grey from thy breath;
We have drunken of things Lethean, and fed on the fullness of death.—"Hymn to Proserpine" (1866)

2012 is considered by many people to be the start of a new "Golden Age"

About 2012 - The Golden Age of Aquarius
December 21st, 2012 is an important date for all of us to make note of...for this is the day that marks the official turn in the glorious Age of the Wheel of Creation. We are involved with concentric rings or vortices of changes within changes. Not only will we be celebrating the Winter Solstice for the earth and sun season (if in the northern hemisphere; Summer Solstice if in the Southern hemisphere), but we will also be enjoying the change in the precession of our Parent Sun and Solar System as they make their way through the turning of the Wheel of Creation. The Golden Age of Aquarius is said to be officially started.

We then also know that the changes extend even farther into the Galactic Wheel of change and so on. The Greater Age of Capricorn will be experienced and we know that this marks a tremendous surge of power for those on earth who choose to work consciously with it. More about these larger Cycles in time.

And of course the song itself, the Beatles "Let it Be".

[youtube:2ofw35xo]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl444KtdO3o[/youtube:2ofw35xo]

The Beatles (Lennon/McCartney)

From the album Let It Be

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. Yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother Mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be

I'm not very good at this - most of you are so much better. I actually enjoyed listening to them and I kept hearing "there will be an answer, let it be"....

However, seeing what Serenity posted above..."You Might Want To Rethink" doesn't sit well with me. We might want to rethink what...that Michael is alive? That Michael is coming back? That TMZ is involved? That Sony is involved? That TS is in the know? What in the word might we want to rethink? Hmmm...

You might want to rethink about all the controversies and stop arguing with each other. At this point, just "Let It Be" because "There Will Be An Answer" and all this fighting is accomplishing nothing. It is only dividing us and not uniting us.

Maybe...maybe not.  8-)

Alfonzo Ribiero did imitate Michael's moves a lot on Fresh Prince. He was also the litle kid on that early Pepsi commercial. The one with all the kids, and Michael was wearing a leather jacket and his glove. He was the one who moonwalked into Michael.

So are these their actual voices?  Some of them don't sound like it - right near the beginning when Huey Lewis sings I swear it's Paul McCartney's original vocals from Let It Be.

And ya, I do see the parallels of this video and our forum.

I also found I was watched this video very closely - to see if any one person stuck out to me more than the rest...

Yes, he was. I noticed that Lou Ferrigno was also on the video...and we all know his connection to Michael. Thank you for sharing this.

Serenity - great observation. Thank you.

"This too shall pass".

My reaction in smileys:  :?:  :(  :o      :D

I think TMZ hit the nail on the head. It's like a bizarre random We Are The World. It also reminded me of Liberian Girl because they both have random celebrities in a random video, connected to a random song.

Great video!

I believe a background of the Santa Monica Pier and beach is used. At least, I think I recognized the Santa Monica pier and the blue baywatch houses ;)

Alfonso Ribeiro -- I Haven't Seen 'Let It Be' Video
12/4/2010 9:53 AM PST by TMZ Staff

It's the most random video on the Internet -- a collection of celebs singing "Let It Be" to promote a Norwegian TV show -- and even one of those celebs, Alfonso Ribeiro, has no idea what it's about.

We got the former "Fresh Prince" star outside of Trousdale last night where he said he hasn't seen the video yet. When we asked him how he got involved with it, he told us, "Someone came to me one day and said, 'Will you do this?' And I went and did it."

Sometimes you should just say no.

Video: http://www.tmz.com/videos?autoplay=true ... 3235ad0f12 (http://www.tmz.com/videos?autoplay=true&mediaKey=682ae937-2704-49f6-a721-523235ad0f12)

*****************************************************************************************************************************
In the video, he says, "I'm still trying to figure out what it all is....I haven't seen it yet....Sometimes, people come to you and say, 'will you do this for me?' "

This Let It Be was allegedly recorded for a Norweigan company but I am wondering if Michael is behind it too somehow?   His influence is world wide and he owns a ton of Beatles songs... Oh, and Alfonso has known MJ since he was a kid.  Also, I read on the michael jackson sightings website that he was supposedly seen in Norway on August 16th of last year - which is also the day that Elvis chose to fake his death.
