Very interesting and look at this other strange "coincidence"... http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/oct/13/michael-jackson-hair-auction-pepsi

Hair of the gods: Locks from Elvis and Michael Jackson to go on sale

By strange coincidence, locks belonging to two of music's greatest stars go under the hammer this weekend

Steven Morris guardian.co.uk,    Tuesday 13 October 2009 11.38 BST

Michael Jackson in 1983, a year before his hair was burnt during a Pepsi commercial accident.

Photograph: Eugene Adebari/Rex Features

One clump is nice and thick and reasonably healthy looking; the second has most definitely been fire damaged.

But, bizarrely, locks that once belonged to Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson – the late kings, respectively, of rock'n'roll and – are up for auction this weekend.

Presley's hair, said to date from the 1950s, when an army barber cropped his famous mane, is going under the hammer in Chicago. Meanwhile, 12 strands of Jackson's hair, the legacy of the freak accident in 1984 when his artfullyarranged coiffure caught fire during filming for a Pepsi commercial, are up for grabs in London.

The strands of Jackson's hair were gathered up by Ralph Cohen, the advert's executive producer, who took off his coat to put out the flames.

Together with Cohen's account of the incident and a signed colour photo, the strands are to be auctioned on Saturday.

Jackson's hair is hot property – a company called LifeGem announced plans in July to craft diamonds and jewellery from Jackson's seared locks.

In his account, Cohen recalls how the pyrotechnics set the singer's hair on fire: "And then, as Michael on his cue, was supposed to come down the stairs, the explosion went off and the first thing I noticed was – he was about halfway down the stairs – and I noticed flame emanating from his hair.

"And it took me a moment to register what exactly was happening because there was so much lights and so many different things go on [sic] it was a little confusing but I noticed his hair was on fire and I immediately rushed out from my position.

"I pulled my jacket off as I was running and proceeded to, when I reached him, put it over his head."

At the time onlookers were amazed at the calmness of the 25-year-old singer. Some thought the accident was part of the act. But he suffered serious burns and needed hospital treatment.

Richard Davie, of International Autograph Auctions, is selling the hair and other artefacts at the Radisson Edwardian hotel at Heathrow airport in London.

He said: "This memorabilia has doubled in price since Michael Jackson died. Jackson has huge global appeal with collectors all around the world.

"Of all the things he has done, including dangling his baby from the window and sleeping in an oxygen tent, the hair-burning incident stands out.

"There will be lots of people who will want to buy these items as souvenirs and those who would like them as investments."

Presley's hair is one of around 200 items of memorabilia being sold at Leslie Hindman auctioneers, in Chicago, on Sunday. The items were from the collection of Gary Pepper, and Elvis superfan.

The Jackson strands are expected to fetch around £1,000. But reports suggest the clump of Elvis's hair could go for as much as $100,000 (£63,000), partly because of the idea that DNA could one day be extracted from the samples to produce a clone of the king.

Also JukeBox that was what I thought... ok this is exactly what TS wants, it's redirected to TMZ, watch an article show up to show that TS KNEW before something was posted to yet prove again that TS and TMZ are working together.

Just watch! :-)

i may be wrong, but i think they need a full hair with root attached to peform  DNA analysis??

One other good find on that page is the example of Elvis' handwriting. Wasn't there a letter from "jesse"/"elvis" to someone? We should have another look at that perhaps, too?

Yep, today the redirect is to TMZ.. and it's Elvis Presley's page. There are a few things that stuck out to me and here they are:

Quote
Pat Boone -- I Called Elvis a Fatty
5/22/2009 8:54 AM PDT by TMZ Staff

Talk about making a great last impression -- because the last time Pat Boone saw The King, one month before he died, dude made fun of Elvis' weight.

The reason I say this is because everyone talked about how skinny Michael was before he "died". The Hulk trainer guy said he told Michael "this is the skinniest i've ever seen you"... so there's another connection i'd say.

Celine & Elvis' "Idol" Duet from the Grave

This reminds me of the one TMZ article where they were talking aboout Michael giving evidence "from the grave".

Quote
Elvis Presley, George Burns and James Brown are all alive and kickin' -- for a new ABC reality show.

Yeah... Once again, do I even have to say?

Life After Death: Artists Top Charts From the Grave
7/13/2006 4:00 PM PDT by TMZ Staff

After being dead for three years, Johnny Cash has again topped the Billboard music charts -- for the first time in 37 years. Interestingly, TMZ did some digging and found out that The Man in Black is not the only artist who has had posthumous albums skyrocket to #1.

Tupac Shakur, aka 2Pac, was gunned down on a Las Vegas street in 1996 at the peak of his hip-hop career. Since that time, the rapper has released two albums that hit #1 on the charts-- once in 2001 and the other 2005. His mother Afeni Shakur is now controlling the artist's new album releases.

Christopher Wallace, aka The Notorious B.I.G or Biggie Smalls, was killed the following year. 2Pac and Biggie were engulfed in a very heated East vs. West Coast rap war that played out in their music. Biggie had two albums hit #1 following his death -- "Life After Death" and "Born Again."

Seattle band Nirvana, a band fronted by Kurt Cobain, lost its leader to suicide on April 5, 1994. The band released "MTV Unplugged in NY" shortly after the singer's death -- which shot to #1. Two years later, the band released "From the Muddy Banks of Wishkah," which also launched up the charts to #1.

This album success trend doesn't only appear in Generation X artists. Long before those musicians picked up an instrument or microphone, dead celebrities were raking in the album sales; Bob Marley, Janis Joplin and Elvis Presley all had #1 one records after their deaths.

Uh, not really sure about this one other than like "life after death"...

And although Michael did not have a number 1 album after his death, he did get a hell of a lot more popular than he was... Sadly, because that's what he deserved all along.

Well, there ya go.
Have a wonderful day! :D

I think this is spot on as well. I had never connected this previously. Thankyou. I have had discussions with people this past 14 months and they always come up with Elvis was really unhealthy. Just look at His weight. These same people have also said. Look how unhealthy MJ was. Nothing but skin and bones. I think we have another Elvis/MJ  hoax similarity.  ;)

I'm still waiting for an Elvis related news on TMZ, some time soon. But meanwhile what got my attention on the Elvis page were the google ads displayed on the right (photo below).

However, when I entered that site and searched for "mj" nothing relevant appeared http://www.zonkspace.com/videos/search?searchfield=mj (http://www.zonkspace.com/videos/search?searchfield=mj).

Anyway, TMZ is giving us clues that they are aware and time will tell all...

Think back to before the fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches to 1958, during the early Elvis craze, when he was shipped off for military duty. E spent the majority of his two-year stint in what was then West Germany, where he met a lil' young thang named Priscilla.

TMZ has uncovered these never-before-seen photos that document Elvis' return from Germany and his last days in uniform.

There are recurrent themes and references indeed. The military reference makes me think of the Army of LOVE, correlated also to the latest Elvis news ("Stars Who've Served"). Moreover, the 1958 mention seems more than pure coincindence...

In two of the TMZ articles Elvis’ hair is described as 51-year-old hair.

Lisa Marie Presley – Nanny Suit Is History

Why does TMZ work History into a headline about LMP’s Nanny?  Then they have HIS in capitals going backwards for HIStory with another story about Star's Who've Served in the military.

HIStory - military  :?:
