I decided to go back in time to a year ago (which I highly recommend to everyone) and take a look at the infamous Dave Dave clip from Larry King Live. As most of us here have come to the decision that Dave Dave on Larry King was Michael Jackson in disguise. After watching the Dave Dave clip, his time line is completely screwed up. "Dave Dave" tells us a story about how he met Michael Jackson. "Dave Dave" tells us that his mother brought him up to the Neverland Ranch as a surprise gift to him. He claims he was in Michael's arcade room and he saw trophies, plaques, and some Beatles albums all over the place (safe to assume "Dave Dave" is talking about the purchased Beatles Catalog). Michael didn't buy The Beatles catalog until 1986. Further prove "Dave Dave" is lying.
Dig this, "Dave Dave" said he was playing a game by the name of "Pole Position." I decided to research the game Pole Position, and found out the game came out in 1982. So how exactly was Dave Dave at Neverland? Michael didn't buy the Sycamore Valley Ranch (he later called it Neverland) until 1988. A sequel to the game Pole Position came out the following year in 1983, and Michael STILL was not at Neverland. To me, this further proves that "Dave Dave" was Michael Jackson in disguise. He's the only person who could possibly know what his basement looked like. The only person who would know what was in his arcade room. The way "Dave Dave's" voice and tone changed as he talked about Michael Jackson made it seem as if he was talking about himself and his past.

There you have a point... Mike moved to Neverland in '88. Dave was 6 (or as "dave" calls it "7") when they met and Dave was invited to Neverland. Dave was allegedly born around 1977 because he is now 33 years old, so he was 6 (or 7, whatever) in 1983/1984. I can't believe we never thought of that. :lol: In 1984 Mike didn't live at Neverland yet.

Thank you for researching this information. This is incredible information. I had always thought that Dave Dave's mom had brought him to Encino but that could have been Ryan White I was thinking of?
You are SO right about the tone change in Michael, er, I mean, Dave Dave's voice :) My thought from the first moment I saw the interview was that it appeared to be Michael (mind you I thought Michael was dead). There were times in the interview where he seemed to downplay the role that Michael played in his life and the help Michael gave him financially. During those times (to me) I thought "only Michael would be too humble to give himself the credit deserved". If it were Dave Dave I think he would have praised Michael a whole lot more for what he did.
Also, Miko said that Michael paid for some medical bills yet LKL's Dave Dave said he didn't, that his mom had excellent insurance. I've always been confused by that discrepancy because one would think that Miko would not say that unless he knew for sure, right? Unless Dave Dave was too young to know just how much Michael helped financially?

I agree. We all know Michael is very humble towards himself and when "Dave Dave" talked of Michael, it just seemed like he was talking in the tone of somebody who doesn't really like talking of themselves. Which is very Michael-like.
Dave Dave may have been at the Encino home, but he sure as hell was never at the Neverland Ranch as he seems so certain that he was.

Great observations @ThaPr1meK1ng we never really looked into those dates and Neverland.
BTW- to me what convinced me MORE than anything was my friend who is not a fan watching this interview and telling me it was MJ. She watched it live that night and called me to say that she thought MJ was in disguise. No reason and w/o prompting from me. I didn't start the hoax thing for a few weeks after that so she didn't here me speak of it. When an "outsider" sees it - it's pretty obvious.

I think the timing of those events with DD was discussed on the old forum, but I agree that there are details in that interview that we missed that we haven't gained the full impact and significance yet. Michael may have some hidden info for us. I must admit your thread title scared me at first, but then I realized it was tongue in cheek!

in this video he clearly says Encino while in the first video he says Neverland

people, I don't think Dave is Michael. I looked at his hands, Michael would not make those hands to appear on Larry King as Dave. Why you think real Dave would not come to the CNN to praise Michael, but Michael did it for himself? What is the point? I am sceptical on this one.

What to think? there is no super clear evidence I think because he is not clear in the way he expresses himself.Either he first was in Encino,1984, and later surprisingly brought to neverland,or he did mix up both places. The girl is mine came out in 83, so when he mentions that, saying he saw all those girl is mine stuff, I`d say it matches with 84 and neverland,but THAT could not have been the case cause Neverland first came into question in 88. So, either the girl is mine stuff was seen in encino and he mixed up the places,although he clearly said he was surprisingly brought to neverland where he saw that,or he lies on purpose or his memory got mixed up or whatever.

I just have to add this:
Michael had discs on his walls of the Beatles records... that does not mean this was not before he brought the Beatles back catalogue.
The AVT catalogue is a tangible, intellectual property.. not actual hard discs. He brought the rights to the songs. Its on paper, not on discs he would hang on the wall.
Before then he was a music fan and was known to have an extensive CD and Vinyl collection. Im sure he brought the discs because he loved music and he said that the Beatles were an influence on him.
Just had to bring that one up to explain.

I think DD (aka Michael) lies deliberately about the Encino-Neverland issue. When you watch his eye movement in the moment he mentions Neverland, you see they are turning quickly to the right. To me it is a sign of lying or producing inconsistencies. He avoids eye contact with the camera (or Larry) and maybe searches for eye contact with Miko who is sitting right to him. Miko and Michael are working together and maybe figured out the story together, maybe it was an (un)consious gesture towards him?

DD also says: "The visit to his Encino house was very impromptu. It was kept to secret by my mother."
This might have a double meaning: Katherine keeping the secret about the hoax.
Another thing that I noticed: Several times DD interrupts at the beginning of his sentences and starts a new one. In a normal conversation you would change your sentence a bit or add information later, but not interrupt and start a new one. For me this shows once again that his speech was scripted and that he had a certain plan about what to say.
There is also an odd moment when he mentiones his favorite video game "Pole Position". The intonation and the structure of the sentence does not make sense there.
He says: "And I remeber sitting down and at that time my, my favorite m.. [movie??] videogames ..... [rising voice and pausing without reason] my favorite videogame was 'Pole Position'."
I think Michael messed up in this sentence. He almost said "movie" and than corrected himself to "videogames" and paused at that point to gather himself. Remember, he was busy at that moment with changing his prostectic hands under the table ;) .

Neverland was a slip...He opens the sentence saying he was invited to the Encino house, (which by the way, the photos of him with MJ with the pac man game behind him is of MJ's arcade room in Encino!) Then was interrupted and when he went back to the story he said "Neverland" As for the albums, what does that have to do with the Catalog MJ owned? You Don't hang a "catalog" of publishing rights on a wall... and as for Poll position?! If it came out in 82 like you said then why can't MJ have it in 88? The pictures of them together proves that Dave Dave was mistaken and it was at Encino.

To me it's just the way he speaks. I mean, i'm totally convinced it's michael in the way he stands, the way he moves on his chair, his eyes...
But where I don't buy the story is the way he tells it.
When you start reading Moonwalk biography from Michael, he start saying he loves to tell story to people.
And this is how Dave Dave sounds. It's a fairy tale he's telling us ! When you talk about your life, you don't get this kind of "fairy tale telling" way. He is speaking slowly, emphasizing on some words, make pauses to create magical world around what he says.
I mean, you can just imagine Michael sitting with his kids near the fire, reading them a story.
I can't believe anyone talk like this about his own experience. But I can imagine Michael creating this story.
I mean, can you believe he goes to Neverland without knowing and then Michael come from behind and Oooooh he turns and ...there he is...
I mean...it's a fairy tale ! and it is told like a fairy tale. It's just so "Michael's wonderland" telling us a story.

I agree on all these points!! The way he stops and says "umm" thats something Michael did a lot.
Also, to the people questioning his hands, trust me its not hard to create something like that whether they're fake and michael is controlling them with his actual hands inside the sleeve or whatever anything is possible there are so many different things in costume design that can be done in this day and age, practically anything.

So in this version, it sounds like MJ first met Dave in the hospital ...

I think he is telling us the truth.
Sometimes you have to disguise to tell the truth.
Nothing strange here.
I hear him and understand him very clearly in everything he says.
An era is gone and the creation of Joe Jackson is gone and the hurting one is gone - buried with a lot of whoopla and hype as it was always known in those years. With the help of entertainer Michael's power and means real Michael could finally get out of the trap.
This is the transcript of the interview.
When being asked by Larry, why he would attend the funeral of Michael Jackson, Michael starts with the following:
KING: -And Dave Dave -- yes, that's his name, Dave Dave. He was David Rothenberg. He was set on fire in 1983. He suffered, as you can see, terrible scars. Michael Jackson befriended him and paid for a lot of his surgeries. Dave Dave is also attending the burial.

But, Miko, is that a typical story of Michael, helping people like this?
MIKO BRANDO, MICHAEL JACKSON'S LONGTIME FRIEND: Absolutely. When he -- when he'd hear about stories of people in need, who needed help, or when we'd watch the news together, he'd -- he'd reach out to them, send them a basket, send them a, you know, a note -- get well or whatever the incident would be. And he'd always reach out to people and help people. Even driving around town, he'd stop and help people.
KING: How did he find out about you, Dave?
DAVE-DAVE: He heard about me and he had contacted me and wanted to meet me.
KING: How old were you at the time?
DAVE-DAVE: I was about seven years old at the time.
KING: And were you in the hospital?
DAVE-DAVE: I was not in the hospital at the time. I was -- I was in interim, back and forth from surgery.
KING: And what did he do for you?
DAVE-DAVE: Well, basically he befriended me. He -- he took me in to his life, which is very rare for Michael to do. But he opened up his arms to me and accepted me as a very good friend of his. And throughout the years, he never let me go.
KING: I believe that's the hearse carrying the body into Forest Lawn. He will be interred -- it looks like a beautiful place they have for him, Miko.
BRANDO: It's very nice. He has a very nice compound.
KING: Yes. We're going to be showing you close-ups of that. That is Forest Lawn.
Were you surprised, Dave, to hear from him when you were seven?
DAVE-DAVE: Oh, it -- it's a very interesting story, Larry. It was kind -- the visit to his Encino house was very impromptu. And it was kept a secret by my mother. And I had always been kind of an admirer of his, not a fan per se, but I always loved his music.
And my mother surprised me one day and brought me up to Neverland. And I entered an arcade and there were all these Paul McCartney records, all of this, "The Girl is Mine" and, you know, this and that. And I remember sitting down. And at the time, my -- my favorite video games -- my favorite video game was Pole Position. And I was playing Pole Position. And I -- I felt a little tap on my shoulder. And I turned around and there was Michael. And...

DAVE-DAVE: And you know what, Larry?
KING: What?
DAVE-DAVE: At that moment, we -- we embraced and that embrace never ended throughout our whole entire friendship.
DAVE-DAVE: Well, I believe what -- what people fail to realize is that Michael was a human being. Throughout the years, I think he was kind of stigma -- stigmatized by the media. And I believe that was -- that wasn't really helpful to him or to anybody around him.
I believe that Michael was a great person. He has never hurt a soul. And I am happy to have been his friend for all these years and been a dedicated friend.
KING: Miko, how do you explain what Michael did for Dave Dave?
BRANDO: That's just the kind of human being he was. He was very loving, caring. He -- he loved Dave from the day he met him. They became friends. Michael helped him through -- through the years and that's the kind of person Michael was. I mean, he loved a lot of people and he'll be missed and loved by a lot of people.
KING: Did he pay for a lot of your medicals?
DAVE-DAVE: Actually, he -- he did not pay for my medical. My mother had great insurance at the time. Michael...
KING: Then what did he do?
DAVE-DAVE: Michael offered a lot of emotional support for me. He was there for me whenever I need to talk to him. He opened up Neverland to me as a -- as a means to get away. He -- he was almost, metaphorically, he was almost like a father that I never had.

As I understand, "Dave Dave" - who is Michael IMO - says he was in the Encino house first, in about 1984 I guess, and he was invited to Neverland some years later - as he didn't say when he was there. He is probably talking about the time after 1988 IMO.

Isn't it interesting that he says he changed his name to Dave Dave "to free myself of his name and his legacy"? Have you heard that his father, Charles Rothenberg changed his name to Charlie Charles? I decided to go back in time to a year ago (which I highly recommend to everyone) and take a look at the infamous Dave Dave clip from Larry King Live. As most of us here have come to the decision that Dave Dave on Larry King was Michael Jackson in disguise. After watching the Dave Dave clip, his time line is completely screwed up. "Dave Dave" tells us a story about how he met Michael Jackson. "Dave Dave" tells us that his mother brought him up to the Neverland Ranch as a surprise gift to him. He claims he was in Michael's arcade room and he saw trophies, plaques, and some Beatles albums all over the place (safe to assume "Dave Dave" is talking about the purchased Beatles Catalog). Michael didn't buy The Beatles catalog until 1986. Further prove "Dave Dave" is lying.
Dig this, "Dave Dave" said he was playing a game by the name of "Pole Position." I decided to research the game Pole Position, and found out the game came out in 1982. So how exactly was Dave Dave at Neverland? Michael didn't buy the Sycamore Valley Ranch (he later called it Neverland) until 1988. A sequel to the game Pole Position came out the following year in 1983, and Michael STILL was not at Neverland. To me, this further proves that "Dave Dave" was Michael Jackson in disguise. He's the only person who could possibly know what his basement looked like. The only person who would know what was in his arcade room. The way "Dave Dave's" voice and tone changed as he talked about Michael Jackson made it seem as if he was talking about himself and his past.

I'm just going to come out and say this. "DAVE DAVE "WAS NEVER AT NEVERLAND VALLEY RANCH!!! He couldn't have been, his time line is half a decade off.
I don't think DaveDave intentionally lied. He mispoke. He first said that the visit to ENCINO was inpromtu and then when he continued he mispoke and said Neverland.

Isn't it odd though how Seth seems to splice both accusation stories into one? Saying the kid accused Michael, then it went to trial and after he was found innocent, the kid confessed his dad told him to do it, then the father committed suicide? If he mixed up the facts here maybe he mixed up the DD hospital meeting.

I thought maybe, just maybe, Michael feels that Dave and him had similarly hard childhood because of their fathers, and THAT'S WHY he as "Dave "Dave" says at the end of the video that: "Metaphorically he was almost like a father that I've never had". And Larry King agrees: "Huh...well said".
Michael has always liked to be with his friends who had similar childhoods, like Liz Taylor, who can understand him.
But it's just a thought, I don't really understand why he chose to disguise himself as DD.

When he -- when he'd hear about stories of people in need, who needed help, or when we'd watch the news together, he'd -- he'd reach out to them, send them a basket, send them a, you know, a note -- get well or whatever the incident would be. And he'd always reach out to people and help people. Even driving around town, he'd stop and help people.
KING: How did he find out about you, Dave?

And at the time, my -- my favorite video games -- my favorite video game was Pole Position. And I was playing Pole Position. And I -- I felt a little tap on my shoulder. DAVE-DAVE: At that moment, we -- we embraced and that embrace never ended throughout our whole entire friendship.
DAVE-DAVE: Well, I believe what -- what people fail to realize is that Michael was a human being. Throughout the years, I think he was kind of stigma -- stigmatized by the media. And I believe that was -- that wasn't really helpful to him or to anybody around him.

Yes, I also wondered about the contradiction, but I had never heard this "version" of the "how MJ met the burned boy" story and thought it was interesting that we are hearing someone talk about it now. You are right, these facts may be mixed up - I guess that can happen when you are remembering something from years ago... ;)
This also makes me wonder - we know there are pictures of Dave with Michael as a child, we know he is credited on the "Invincible" album as "Dave Dave" a member of MJJ Productions, Inc. Yes, I also think he probably wanted to tell us something during that interview. But I guess his main message was said to those people who misunderstood him:

But IMO the main answer to the question "what purpose did he have to disguise himself and go to LKL show... What did he want to acheive?" is that he wanted us to know that he is alive. At least for me seeing him there is the most convincing evidence for him being alive.

If Dave Dave told the world that it was not him but Michael on LKL it would end the hoax, or at least too many people would question that Michael is dead. As Michael hasn't come back yet, he wants to continue the hoax - and I guess DD is helping him to do this.

I think it was also Michael on The Leeza Show. At least that was surely not the real DD.
On the first two comparisons you can see DD from the B&B which was made only one year later (in 1997) than the Leeza interview (in 1996). He looks quite different... His teeth, his lips, his ear, his eyes...
Then I compared three photos of DD from the same year, 1996. The persons on the left and in the middle look the same, but the one on the right...?
Dave Dave on The Leeza Show rather looks similar to Michael IMO.

The problem is, when we watch the video normal, we can see that DaveDave at Leeza's almost looks the same like in B&B. So either both times it is Michael or not. I spend a lot of time with investigating this, and I didn't come to a certain conclusion, respectively I sometimes doubt about the conclusion I draw.

I really like your comparison work, good job!
But the comparison between DaveDave on Leeza's with other pictures has to bear in mind that DaveDAves's face is distorted, as you can see when comparing Leeza's face to other pictures of her. I don't know why, but the video material from the show is pulling the people's faces apart, it is not how they really look like.
I noticed that, and thought of making the photos undistorted/normal, but I didn't want to change them as this is the video we have originally (at least on YouTube). So yes, we have to bear in mind that the photos from the Leeza video are distorted, and watch them in that way...
The problem is, when we watch the video normal, we can see that DaveDave at Leeza's almost looks the same like in B&B. So either both times it is Michael or not. I spend a lot of time with investigating this, and I didn't come to a certain conclusion, respectively I sometimes doubt about the conclusion I draw.

And I really wonder why the Leeza interview was broadcasted on july 2nd 2009 including this distortion. Maybe it was done on purpose, to make DaveDAve look more like Michael?

friendlikeme81, first I want to thank you that you reminded me of the distorted video - I totally forgot to mention it, not only here but in my video about this topic too... (and I also forgot to thank you previously...) I guess it's distorted because it was made in a 4:3 format but was uploaded to YouTube in a 16:9 format, so the picture became wider than normally. I don't know why bimbopatrol (who uploaded it to YT) made it this way, but I guess it's not that important. I first realized that the picture is wider when I made the comparisons between Michael and DD on the Leeza Show for my video. I believed already that it's Michael there, but I saw that his face is wider in that mask/disguise. And not only because of the mask (like the mask he wore on LKL made his face wider IMO) but basically. I thought it's because of the video format. Then I read the thread you started and it helped that you mentioned there that Leeza's face looks different too. This was all before I made my video, so thanks for the help! :)
Honestly, when I first saw the video about DD in the B&B, I also thought that there is a chance that it's Michael - because of his upper arm and his shoulders. And then I saw you guys thought the same. But as I started to analyze his face more, I became sure that it's the real DD. In my video I made many comparisons of the real DD's face, so to be sure how he looks like - as I was also confused about his different looks, just like you. If you are interested, I suggest to watch the videos (one video actually, but long, so it has 3 parts) I made because I tried to gather everything there about Dave Dave's different looks and it would be too long to post it here. In a few points I can say that what convinced me that it was the real DD in the B&B and Michael on the Leeza show are the followings:
1, The real DD's right earlobe is basically missing, just like the Dave's in the B&B - but the DD on the Leeza show has a right earlobe.
2, The real DD's skin on his face and his neck is less tense/more damaged, which we can see only when the light is better in the B&B (generally there is not much light, so DD's skin looks better). You can see his damaged skin on the second photo I posted above. But the DD on the Leeza show has a tense and nice skin in the whole video - and there is way more light.
3, DD's face is narrow/longish in the B&B, and as I found, his face has always looked like this. He is especially thin in the B&B but his face still looks longish now, and looked also this way when he was a teenager. The DD's face in the Leeza show is similar to Michael's (except that the video is distorted so it's a bit wider), a little square (watch the chin).
4, DD's teeth in the B&B are less ordered than the DD's on the Leeza show, which suggests that they are different persons (I doubt his teeth got less ordered in one year, as the B&B was made in 1997 and the Leeza show was in 1996).
5, DD in the B&B cannot move his lips in a healthy way, his lower lip is too loose. (you can see it on the photo above but it's more clear when you watch the video). DD in the Leeza show has no problem with his lips, they are healthy.
6, DD in the B&B is a little cross-eyed, like on every photo about the real DD. The DD in the Leeza show has very similar eyes to Michael's eyes - not crossed and the distance between them is bigger.
By the way the picture we have about DD from the Leeza show (when he is sitting in a chair) is I think about the real DD. (the middle photo from the 3 photos above) Watch his missing earlobe - the same as DD's in the B&B (The angles are not the same but his ear looks way more similar to the B&B DD than to the "sofa" DD). And his skin is more damaged and his face is more longish (I don't think the video is that distorted that it made the "sofa" DD's face that much wider). He looks very similar to the picture on the left (from that 3 photos) which was taken the same year.
I guess there is a chance that the video we can see on YT about the Leeza show was re-made just before the hoax. Everything was kept the same, just instead of the real DD they show us Michael as DD. That's why he sits in a sofa in the video and in a chair on the photo. Just a thought...
What I wrote down above is more clear in my video as I used a lot of photo comparisons there.
I've never seen the English version of the B&B unfortunately - but DD's voice on the Leeza show sounds like Michael's voice to me.

IMO the DD in the B&B looks very similar to this photo of him (which is real I guess). He is a little thinner in the B&B, and his skin looks better (probably he had much make-up on, and as I said the light was very low), but his ear, his mouth and chin, and his nose looks the same. His eyes became more open though - I mentioned it in my video that IMO his eyes were operated many times throughout the years (her mother said they were burnt severely).

I have just had a close look at the new pictures DaveDave posted on his Myspace (city pictures), and they make clear that also the hands, arms and the body shape of DD in B&B are most likely those of the real DD. The differences between the pictures that were taken by the press around the same time are still big (DD leaning at the wall), but this may be a result of lightning and makeup.
For comparing the pictures of DD at Leeza's (sitting in armchair and sitting on the sofa) we could take the structure of the black&white cap as a criteria. I tried to make the cap look the same and it shows that the broadness of the face also becomes almost the same.

The skin between both DD's is different, the one during the interview has a much smoother skin than the one sitting on the chair, but also Leeza has a very unnatural looking smooth skin. So this is not an absolutley certain proof. But what's really different is the chin. The real DD has a longer chin and a smaller jaw line than the DD in the interview. It also seems as if the tip of the nose of the DaveDave during the interview is a bit higher.
Anyway, doing comparisons of the appearance is one thing, but comparing the voices is another. Being a musician from early childhood I am acoustically trained and the voice similarities between Michael and DD on LKL and on Leeza's are more convincing to me than anything else. (Which doesn't mean that I don't like a good picture comparison ;) )

Dear friendlikeme81, thank you for the comparisons you made about DD sitting in the armchair and sitting on the sofa. Yes, ther chins, their jaw lines and there noses look different to me too. And their eyes are very different IMO as well. So even when their caps have the same width, and so the DD's face, who is sitting on the sofa, became much narrower (so you made the unnaturally wide original video narrower) their faces still look quite different.
For me what is the most convincing difference though, is the difference between their teeth and the way they move their lips. If you watch the video from 4:02 you can see a short video of DD from the B&B and then the Leeza video.

About the voices, which words/sentences do you refer to? I hear that DD on the Leeza show has a very similar voice to Michael's, but what is strange is that both Leeza's and DD's voices are distorted during the whole video - just like the picture we talked about...

No, she's just having a little sense of humor. Sometimes you gotta be a little funny on these forums, times get tough on us occasionally, unfortunately. I don't mind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comment on my thread though. I loved that show like 10 years ago. :D
