Hi! english is not my language and for me is dificult to write exactly what i´m thinking... but i´ll try...
Mj say he OWNS half of Sony, so maybe at some point sony say: It´s enough, you can take it from here and MJ say: OK, I leave you but I want Epic... something like that LOL and that´s when MJ became the Epic owner.
At some point (i think in the killer thriller party speech) Mj say that he only have to do 1 more bookset for sony and he will be free so... maybe this is it was the bookset and now he is free...

Some men see things as they are and say: WHY?
I dream things that never were and say: WHY NOT?

"What one wishes is to be touched by truth and to be able to interpret that truth so that one may use what one is feeling and experiencing, be it despair or joy, in a way that will add meaning to one\'s life and will hopefully touch others as well.
This is art in its highest form. Those moments of enlightenment are what i continue to live for." -Michael Jackson

I would guess these are two reasons why BAD album/era is so important.

Bad saw Jackson exercise even more artistic freedom than he did with his two previous Epic releases (Off the Wall and Thriller). On Bad, Jackson composed nine of the album's eleven tracks and received co-producer credit for the entire album

Bad was the first studio album Jackson released after leaving The Jackson 5 and the first in an almost five-year period following Thriller.[6] Bad was the third, and final, musical collaboration between Jackson and Quincy Jones.

Yes, but what's Bad album's and era's connection with the hoax?

Yes, but what's Bad album's and era's connection with the hoax?

Ok, I see it this way: Thriller album is Michael's most successful album. Michael expected BAD to outsell Thriller, but was unsuccessful in his attempts. I think BAD started this self competition for Mike, he wanted to outdo Thriller. In an interview Michael says that he never keeps Grammys, Awards or anything in his house because he wants to constantly feel like he hasn't accomplished anything. The BAD era has a lot to do with anti-industry and its the era when people began to question his appearance and his choice of style and song. After BAD, everything he did was 'shocking' and 'controversial'. Thriller era, he was America's Prince who could do nothing wrong :). BAD era, he breaks away from his good boy image and shows his true creativity and originality. BAD is where it starts, in my opnion. BAD is when Michael became Michael. And I believe there is more than just one reason why this hoax is necessary in his career. TII concert tickets were selling like hot cakes, but the TII concert announcement was just a bit of a shake up for us, to get some new and exciting attention. The hoax is the pre-show and of course there is more to come (lets hope).
BAD era probably has more significance than just this, but this is the best I can do right now. I'm pretty sleepy!

Usually moderators or admins are the only ones that are able to move posts to different threads, so I was curious.

I didn't move anything, i think my post was taken out of context. I was going to post a reply to someone, but figured it would be better if I put it in the Negativity Thread instead of here and the post in question was not meant to hurt Jentletouch's feelings, but merely to explain to him/her why I felt a certain way. You know, freedom of expression, that whole thing :). I felt it would be more appropriate there and I thought I was doing the right thing. But if not, I apologize to anyone who disagrees. Souza hasn't said anything about it so I'm not too worried, and its sort of old news by now anyway if it was ever news to begin with. But my intentions were to keep this thread on topic since I felt bad that I had participated in getting it off topic in the first place.
