I saw on wikipedia that the patent for the anit gravity shoes is no longer owned by Michael Jackson because he failed to pay the maintence fee. I clicked on the patent information under the picture of the shoe and found this site explaining this. So, he may not have been legally able to do it since he no longer owned the patent for the shoes. In my patents list | Print Method and means for creating anti-gravity illusion Bibliographic data Description Claims Mosaics Original document INPADOC legal status The EPO does not accept any responsibility for the accuracy of data and information originating from other authorities than the EPO; in particular, the EPO does not guarantee that they are complete, up-to-date or fit for specific purposes. There's no way Michael's 50yo back would stand up to the lean.No one else can patent the lean, they simply can now perform it. Once patent expires anyone can do it, but you cannot repatent an existing... well... thing. Patents are available only for new inventions.
Patent means he can prevent someone else from using it or getting them to pay him to use it. Unless the patent is owned by someone else now - he can still do the lean.
